Your wife has deeply-rooted childhood feelings of abandonment by her parents both messing around with their computers instead of spending time with her.

"Mommy want to play tea party with me?"

"Sorry, honey... gotta log into the BBS and play some Trade Wars 2002!"

So the second you want time on the computer, she feels the abandonment and playing second fiddle to a computer for attention all over again. I feel like this might require some couples therapy to help her work through you playing the computer for a few hours a night is not abandoning her... it is simply a personal hobby where you get some "you time" in the marriage, and she's even welcome to join you if she wants so you are still spending time with her.

But yeah, she needs to understand that preventing you from enjoying a hobby because of baggage she has from her childhood isn't fair to you.

Great point, Shoveler.

Do girlfriends/wives and video games ever mix?

OP I could not play green (except launch weekened! which was the high point anyway hehe) and thustly have not yet once plyaed a character that is of a class that a darkelf cannot be, while apeparing as a dark elf. And let me tell you this. After 21 years of wanting to do that? IM actually not gonna lie that I still want to do it as badlyl as I did in 99.

So in a way im glad I was forced to not be able to play through that portion of green and still have that dragon to chase.

So in the end life is how you look at it, because if i looked at it how I really felt I'd say all of that was a load of absolute horseshiit and that having a lustrous covered darkelf shaman with a red BP would be way better than this sniffing my own farts nonsense about still dreaming of all that! FILE THE PAPERS!
hehe jk on that last bit [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Maybe you should stop playing EQ for awhile and spend some time with your wife. A manastone / guise / locket of escape / other generic trash to be slightly better at 20 year old EQ is not worth your marriage, and if it is, you have bigger issues to work on together.

Not with me. She calls my EQ time 'nerd chores'.

I started playing in Sept 2000. Met my wife in April 2001. She started her account around October 2001. We played together through the end of The Buried Sea when she sorta retired.

I took a break from EQ for around a year then started on P99/blue right before Velious was released. My wife started back on the Daybroken servers when green99 came out. She's happily playing on the Bristlebane server while I'm doing my thing on green.

So yes, they can mix but we're a weird exception and definitely not the norm.

Sounds like grounds for divorce. Emotion Distress on your behalf, you don't have to give her half for the mental abuse.
