Rend was actually Cold resist until March 21st, 2000. Verifiable with March SPDats here:

Today's Patch:
Along with today's patch that mostly changed server-side issues, Rend now has the correct saving throw against Magic. This was the patch message:

- The Wizard spell "Rend" was improperly saving versus cold. It now saves versus Magic.

This appears to already be true in the spells file, but is currently set to change to Magic in June 2000, not March 2000. Hmm

I moved it back to March 2000 given the patch note, I'm not seeing anything showing the spell update was delayed.
