Need Help with 2 Boxing Rules. Graphics Scaling.

OK, I was on another thread, trying to figure out how to recover my login because nothing was working. I finally got my tunes back.

My new goal is to spend some time playing around with my 8 year old grandaughter.
She's kind of young for EQ but there are lower zones that I think would be kid friendly for her, especially if I was her guardian angle. I can help her with some good armor and make a low tune to level up with her.

The issue is, it may look a lot like I am boxing the tunes. I don't want to break any rules and get banned.

We would be on different devices, and we are different people, probably even at different addresses although I would like to play with her in person a few times, maybe me on a laptop her on her PC, just so I can give her pointers and show her the controls easier the first few times.

So do I need a NEW emulator account for her tunes, or can use a secondary login account on the EQEMU account I already have, as long as she is playing it, on a separate machine?

What specifically do I need to avoid doing to prevent myself from accidently getting banned?

It's not like we will be farming or attacking bosses. Probably fishing, doing crafts, and bonking rabbits. She's 8.

Does anybody play with young kids? Is it a bad idea. She wanted to play Minecraft, but that looks so boring to me and terrible graphics even compared to P99.

I was going to make sure that she only plays when I play, at least to the point where she knows player etiquette, Camps, Training, etc. I think she is too young to group unless I was there and she is very familiar with her duties. I can still get her Minecraft, but this is one we can play together that I am more familiar with. I don't want to learn minecraft, a cheap imitation of EQ.

But I digress.

What do I need to do to play at the same time with her. She's kind of young to do the tech stuff so anyway you slice it, I am going to have to set up the base accounts that make this work.

I have made other EQ emulator logins (I forget why, but they are there. Probably when I was trying to get things working years ago) but I have only ever used anything but my main one, and never boxed 2 at once(on P99). I ALWAYS boxed on SOE, but it was not against the rules there, and I respect the rules here.

The other problem I am having is that my vision is really strained, and my monitor is a 4K monitor. The windows are SO TINY. Is there a UI that fixes this without having to change my entire resolution down to the stone age. Something that can simply make bigger windows within a higher resolution? It wouldn't seem to be rocket science.

I like the ability to look stuff up when Im playing without switching in and out of Fred Flinstone resolution. Any way to scale this better? I use /chatfontsize 6 which helps some of the text, but even the controls could be a lot bigger. Thanks in advance.

I'd rather not add another level of difficulty. I will usually be miles away at another house. The ideal way is to just let her play on a different login, which actually even on hotspot would be necessary, because you can't play 2 chars at once from the same login account. My understanding is hotspot is like a way to connect via a local wifi network. What I want to do is have her have a unique account with her own characters that I can play with from my own unique account. My only question is do I need to have a completely different Emulator account, or can I use alternate usernames from my 1 emulator account. Currently I have 3, although I cannot remember why. I think it took me a while to figure it out, and I made several logins until I worked out that the problem was with the file patching. I was hoping I could use one of these alternate logins for my grandaughters unique Game Account. Is there an actual P99 GM or something to answer this?

Horrible advice, this is a great example of what not to do.

There is a petition section in the forums you can use to request an IP Exemption. Below is copy/paste instructions from that section:

IP Exemption: This is for requesting to be exempt from the limit of 1 connection per IP Address. You may request exemption if you have more than 1 real person playing from the same IP. When posting for this, please include the account names of every person that will be playing from the same IP, as well as the identities (real first names) / relations to those players, and please make sure that at least one character has been created under each account. Please verify the spelling of each account you specify. This format works best: Real first name - Relationship - Loginserver Account Name
If you fail to provide us the format we have requested it will delay your request.
If you have requested an IP Exemption in the past please provide those accounts too.
This will fix the "Temporary IP ban" error.

As far as your resolution, you already know about chatfontsize so the only other solution I have is adjusting the resolution. I use WinEQ to play in windowed mode and have since install. Not sure if changing the resolution in game would be an issue in full screen with a mismatch against your monitor but in windowed mode the only thing it really does is change the sizes of your boxes and fonts.

Thanks, I will look for that section. and regarding the resolution, I messed around with it today, and decided that the ingame video resolution settings and tweaks like the /chatfontsize command will solve the problem. It's not as bad once I scaled it just a bit more than I had it. My eyes are getting older. Thanks for the reply. Databyter
