Hardcore would be fun - quadruple the exp, increase chance of item drops, but make them all no drop. On death, if you reach a certain lvl, your corpse gets a little memorial tombstone above it and allows you to leave a witty comment until the corpse decays.

Edit: What would self found entail? No trades to others?
Personally I wouldn't change the drops or exp at all for hardcore, let it stay EQ but painful. Lol

That's basically what self found would be yeah. if it were an actual server mechanic, you'd probably want to get rid of other ways to transfer items/disable help from the outside somehow? I don't know, that's a big question. Lol

I wonder what the dynamics of a server would be on a no dro server, essentially a server with only no drop items, other than maybe tradeskilled items, or things like foraged items required for quests.
That's basically how <Legacy of Ik> plays. You can trade/sell/buy all non-equipment items and tradeskilled equipment (to guildies and at fair price) but everything else must be looted/quested on your own.

It really changes the way you approach the game, instead of just grinding to 8 then hitting kurns and not leaving until 22. You mix in a lot of equipment goals that you need to work on instead of just making EXP go up.

If it were server wide, you'd see a lot of wild zones that no one ever goes to at-level being used.

Always love (hate) the argument that moon cats and aliens don't fit with EQ. Go take a look sometime at Kerra Island... the GM type npcs, all the tradeskill stations and the vendors, and try to tell me Kerrans weren't originally intended to be a playable race. Then go take a really good look at the Temple of Life in Qeynos. It's a flying saucer. And look up the concept art for Rodcet Nife. I'm using the Prima Guide from the Ruins of Kunark expansion. He's an alien. All of those ideas were in the game from day 1. There is nothing in the Luclin expansion that doesn't fit the game lore of EQ from the outset. Peace, and Merry Frostfell.

Which is why they should've just made the Kerra playable and built out Odus more. That should've been a free update with the Luclin stuff being all high-level content. Biggest problems with Luclin was Paldual Caverns killing every other zone for leveling.

If any race was going to find its way to the moon, best guess would've been gnomes or erudites.

Yeah agreed. Would’ve been cool if luclin built out the continent and made Kerra playable, and then there’s also an aspect where like some erudite figured out how to use the spires to get to luclin and they throw some high level zones up there along with some raiders content. No bazaar or like race living up there

Possibly even have the only port to Luclin be on Odus, making the west side of the map less of a dead area.

Also I hate the Vah Shir models, I think the Kerra are cooler looking, and I love the polynesian aesthetic which isn't something common in RPGs.

Well it was the Erudites who sent the cats to the moon.

It is. The hole is where Shar Val used to be, it got teleported to the moon in the Erudite civil war. It's kinda dumb still, but the whole idea of Luclin is that it's where the remnants of all the old kingdoms/empires ended up.
