Just do some looting.

Sure you aren't meditating if you rifle through the pockets of the dead for 12 seconds, but the melee aren't dpsing while they do.

If you really don't want to miss a tick just ask someone that is looting to also loot your share and give it to you later?

The worst about being a cleric is that thing with symbols in pick up groups... tanks never carry peridots but always ask for HP buffs. It annoys me to no point. Carry dots, at least one or two per session to split the cost with the Cleric. I almost never see that tho. That should be the etiquette.

Most groups I see give any dots that drop to the cleric to help cover buffs. It's probably less than are used, but I'm sure it helps. My cleric is 41 and people I group with keep giving me dots even though I still use jaspers at that level. I'll have a decent starter supply when I get the symbol upgrade in 3 more levels.

First gem always to clerics for dot money. easy and simple to do.

Also, yes i expect something if i get asked to go rezz someone and have to go out of my way and run across 5 zones to get to obscure location_01 to go rezz a stiff.
Only natural to give something in a situation like that where random cleric_045 takes 20 mins of his time to come rez yer ass somewhere.
However, is it a newby and i can see some one is really in trouble, i would come help for free, and even give some spare gear or something to help out true n00bies. Just don't be an ass and demand a rezz just cuz i am in the zone with you cuz 'you haz click stick!' /ignore works wonders fast than.

I suppose we should start giving bonechips to the necros and gear to the tanks were grouping with too so they can perform their role for that level better.
Sounds like we have some money hungry clerics among us.
If you want to do a less then mediocre job as a cleric.. Just tell the group you are out of peridots. It makes your job harder and increases your chance of wiping when peoples hp is lower.
You spend so much on spells? I can tell you right now a cleric does not spend more money on spells then any other caster and don't get me started how much has to be spent to make your tank actually relevant in the higher levels.

Usually a free gem or two is given to the cleric anyways to cover dot costs. ( At least in every group ive been in the 50s-60 )

Don't complain. Youre playing an easy class that just gets to sit and click CH 90% of your time in a group.
Oh.. And people pay you to right click an epic item. Sounds like a pampered life

has nothing to do with being money hungry.

but i think it's pretty common practice these days to give first gem to cleric for dot money (least in every group i've been in (both as tank and cleric)).
And yes, i also give any bonechips to necros if we have any cuz i play one as well and sucks to be out of bone chips when yer pets get killed over and over in some groups and have to keep resummoning lol.

tank wise, not that expensive to gear, but can take a fuckton of time raiding to get the gear you want :P (1400+ hours in my case hehehe). Can get some cheap agro weapons and decent gear for little plat these days.

people will sap your friendly nature quick on the server, they expect you to be helpful to them but they don't reciprocate. and then it creates expectations if you do help out. I rezzed a dude once in guk because I was heading to lguk anyways and to this day he constantly expects me to go out of my way and drop everything I'm doing to go rez him for free. because I did it once when I was nearby anyways to be nice. dude would message me while I'm in Seb and ask me to come rez him in perma (or other equally long out of the way places) and be pushy about it.

also I don't take plat if I feel like the person can't afford it. or rather, I only accept platinum if I'm confident they have a lot of it.

I gladly rez for free if port is provided but if I gotta go out my way at least make it worthwhile

I don't seem to group with any warriors, usually rangers and monks who seem to while deal great damage take a ton while at it so I'm usually hit 2-3 with Symbols at a time. Put in a several hor session and I'm out a lot of platinum. Then you get the ones that get offended when I don't hit them and only give regular buffs. That Adds up fast. I do spend a lot of time buffing low lvls when I can.
In my experience, the best thing to do is give out regular buffs and if someone asks for a symbol, say you don't have any on hand or ask for replacement peridots. If neither of those work, I also keep a stack of jaspers on me to do lower level symbols in a pinch. Usually the people QQing for symbols are either terribly geared warriors who need the HP to look less terrible or someone in top tier gear who should be able to afford some peridot money. The first gem to the cleric rule can work pretty well, but not all groups agree to it or on rare occasions, that gem may not drop.

The idea that anyone should be expected to pay out of pocket to buff someone else is asinine. I don't know if it's still true, but some guilds used to make their clerics pay for peridots themselves to buff the raid. Now imagine you being the only 60 cleric and the raid wipes to something stupid (which is usually the case). No thanks.

The entitlement if people see a cleric at the KC zone in is unreal.

Make no mistake, they're not donating.
100% of the time they are just sitting there with a clickstick.

Just click the corpse. It's not hard.

I'd typically tip corresponding to the amount the cleric went out of their way to do it, like, several thousand pp to go to an obscure zone once i had money. But clicking my corpse I put at your feet while you're sitting at the ZL watching porn in the other tab? Maybe I'll hand you 50pp
