A fresh, fun start.
Hey guys, I'm looking to start a new character and the plan is to either not twink at all or to do so very minimally.
I'm looking for a class that isn't an Enchanter or Necromancer as I already have both of those. I'm open to all classes though, be they caster, melee, or hybrid. Preferably one that has some good use in groups but doesn't have an awful time soloing or duoing either. Not super familiar with classes outside of Necromancer or Enchanter as they have both been leveled largely through way of soloing. So I figured I'd ask around the community and pick up any valuable information as to what would be a fun roll. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or information!

The other strong option for a starting solo-able class (that's not Enchanter/Necro) would be Druid. They're not as mighty as Shaman, but they do get ports (which can be a great way to earn plat). Other possibilities (which I'm less familiar with): Bard or Magician.

Ranger! Gear is cheap and they are fun.

Go rogue or warrior. Pure melees, both really rely on groups especially if you untwinked.
This would be the polar opposite of your other experiences on classes that are very strong solo even without gears. This would prove the most challenging and grant you a far different experience in the game than before imo. Warrior would be the hardest of the two. It wouldn't take much to get fair weapons as a rogue and be successful in groups whereas with warrior it requires not only gearing appropriately but also groups needing to accomodate the warrior with gameplay around the warriors weaknesses. Rooting mobs for aggro purposes for the warrior, etc. In the end both would be rewarding as they both are great for groups or raids, if you wanted to take them that route.

I feel like ranger is great for this becuse its certainly a class that, if you're geared its like, 'who cares' and if you're not geared its like 'who cared anyway'
so you can just do your thing without anyone expecting anything of you. Id also reccomend a paladin for this journy, that's a fun class to do quests with and gear that way and RP that you're rescuing the karanas from teh darkness

How about a bard or druid? That way you can still retain the option to charm stuff, although in a diluted way.
Bard will keep your fingers busy, druid is flexible enough to solo or group based on what you wanna do.
