The wife and I duo these guys with considerable regularity. She enjoys getting one with weapons just to liven it up a bit. The most interesting/dangerous weapon setup that I recall involved one that rapidly procced dispell. Come velious, adding a glowing black sword to that should make for a fun fight. If there's a way to give those guys see-invis the consequences would be far more fun than any weapons.

Interestingly, that Sword of Skyfire had such a small AE range it didn't even hit either of our pets.

I always wanted to give the Cliff Golem a Tranquil Staff, sow, vog, and acumen (you can dictate him to cast buffs) and +100 in MR gear so he could slaughter all of the class c scum headed for VP. Unfortunately, they are all on VS faction!
