Because the fanbase of EQ has always been relatively small compared to other MMO's and vastly smaller compared to any high fantasy franchises like Elder Scrolls ect. By the time of 2003, EQ peaked at 500k online subscribers. Many MMO's since then and even during that time period (FFXI or Lineage 2) surpassed that with twice as many active users. EQ as a whole is a 'dead' franchise with the exception of P99 and some leftovers still keeping EQ1 and EQ2 afloat. That's probably why you don't see anyone making fanart.

What's wrong with the Ratonga? High Fantasy has a lot of various rat styled races. Even classic Everquest in Scars Of Velious had a rat race in the Dragon Necropolis.

I think the only problem with them was that like all non-Froglok races at the start of EQ2, they all walked straight and a humanoid skeletal frame and didn't have any unique structure to them. They should've been more like the Ashloks were an EQ2 rat race in later expansions which imo were awesome even if they were Skaven ripoffs from Warhammer.
