Default Extreme lag during raids

I took several months off, and now I’m back playing due to being stuck at home (thanks covid-19..). I have 2 pcs, a desktop and a laptop. Both have always ran the game fine, but since coming back I notice any time I’m in high traffic areas the game becomes practically unplayable on my laptop. My desktop doesn’t skip a beat. I’ve tried copying my install files from the desktop to my laptop to make sure something didn’t get goofed up when I updated the most recent patch, but I get the same result. I’ve read about the lighting changes, but sounds like I can’t turn that off.... Is there any resolution that others have had success with, that have experienced the same issue?

Again....a few months ago the same pc ran fine. Thanks in advance

The top thread (literally at the top of the page) may have some helpful advice. Does your laptop have discrete graphics? The lighting changes made recently have upped the hardware requirements a bit and with a large group of players the effect is more noticeable.

Do you have logs on? If so, you need to exempt the log file from your antivirus software. During raids there is tons of spam coming through and if your AV software is scanning that log file every time some swings on a mob you’ll get tons of lag.

Long delay in giving an update, but i wanted to try all of the different suggestions I could find or received.

Attempted everything in the stickied post, also tried complete reinstall and using wineq2. Same results unfortunately. I’ve been using this same laptop for 5+ years with no issues. It has a dedicated graphics card. If I get around 30ish or more people the game just grinds to a laggy halt.

Logs are off, have exemptions for antivirus, etc. The only thing I haven’t tried that was suggested is “turn shadows: off”, can you elaborate more on that please?
