All of the combines work however I don't remember the Bile Soaker being consumed and needing a new one for each Glowing Fiber.

It doesn't mention needing to get five Bile Soakers in any of the guides I could find.

I did my own research and could not find anyone talking about having to get more bile soakers either. None of the quest guides mention having to get another. I'd say you're probably right.
