Default Great new HD classic texture pack!

The humble ModestLaw has been working on a texture upgrade for maybe about 2 years now. It's finally out and ready for to use!

He uses this cool machine learning app to upscale the textures and then by hand fixes parts that look wonky, it passes my personal pretty stringent "not classic" review!

The windows and crumbling accent on the building are different.

It looks like he just found the original piece of stock artwork that indian goddess thing came from. It does look great though.

The first time through he did AI upscaling (with many models he trained himself), but now he's redone most of classic leveraging the texture archeology of the Mario 64 community.

Exactly. He's identified over 300+ source textures and is editing them back in.

Yep! SSD and such can help a bit, but the files are 2-4x larger.

These textures are intended for the LanternEQ client. You can check out the new site here: https://www.lanterneq.com/. Come to the Discord and see the Lantern client running these textures with Full AO and such. It's so good.

Doesn’t titanium tend to poop a loop if it tries to run over 4GB RAM?

Is this an issue for this pack?

Client only loads the globals and zone you are in so mem limits should not be a problem at all. Been fine for me with HD Elf Pixels (modest charcs will be coming to Titanium at some point - but not as cool as Lantern https://youtu.be/HxlXkvFE8u8)

yeah I was like lol oh man that pic is unplayable.

But that said, he'd fix that if it was pointed out to him, and the main thing is look at the detail of that upscale its insane, and actually fits the original work so well it looks like it was the original image like the other poster said!

I haven't checked to see if he has compressed the maps as well as they could be, maybe if they are substantially larger they can be compressed and retain the visual quality with some creative compression.

Glad this thread is getting traction because it's really cool to me what he's doing! Someone here did a really good pack for character models and it really makes me happy.

Funny enough, longer zoning times are a step towards more classic. P99's near-instant zoning times are not accurate for the period.
