Well that sucks, no wonder I had a lot of friends mention blue recently. Well at least we had our fun, I stupidly purchased a puppet strings before I stopped a year ago, by biggest purchase ever in EQ. Nice to see Green effecting Blue so early.

At least it got me off my ass to just give everything away. Much fun was had with my small group and rechargable clickies. TONS of hours saved due to small screw ups, or just basic challenges, seeing what we could pull off. Good times.

Oh just FYI our old guild Conquest on Cazic-thule was recharging bladestoppers, but that was a little towards the launch of Kunark. I'm pretty sure that was common knowledge of most guilds pushing higher content as bladestopper was instantly recognized as a MT item.
Can I have your stuff?

Strictly personal opinion here, but I always felt epic quests were meant to be a journey for the player and a special achievement. I do wish every epic could not be MQ'd at any step. It gets all very slippery slope of course, but a part of me always cringes seeing people offer epic MQs.
Speaking as someone who MQed their monk epic: I would never have been able to get one without it since I'm not a raider. It was still an epic journey for me and a very special achievement. Just a different kind.

Disclaimer: The guild I'm in, which essentially carries the dead weight of my mains (knights), stood to benefit a lot from soulfires and other recently nerfed items as well, to a greater extent than the largest guilds.

Regardless, the concept of a no-fail instant backup heal was a Paladin-only perk and the original devs made certain it was not a true complete heal because they foresaw raid exploits. Perhaps compensate for this, they put charges of cheal on the SoulFire though I've read that initially it only had Superior Heal. Paladins don't get any other side rewards tied in with their epic, whereas other classes do, but SoulFire perhaps was intended for that purpose.

If every class gets access to better than Lay Hands x5, they benefit in ways similar to those who would two-box. Class synergy is less relevant when an item will allow DIY. With less of those items, more interdependence exists and class identity is not made ambiguous. Enchanters safeguarded by Clerics, Monks amplified by Shamans, etc.

Clickies give spells to melee classes, turning them into hybrids, except the power of those effects is not offset with a cast time or mana requirement, making them superior. There are no clickies that give access to sneak/hide, backstab, defensive disc, track, etc. And for good reason. The versions of Feign Death that casters get have a cast time and mana requirement and none of the FD clickies are instant. Again, for good reason.

Always there are trade-off between classes.

Clerics get the best heals and more of them; Paladins get the fastest (Lay Hands, SoulFire), instant. Shadow Knights get slower Feign Deaths but more of them; Monks get the fastest, instant.
Well said! also, miss your videos man!

That's sort of the point. You should join a guild and participate in order to acquire an item like that.

Item Changes

The staff has been keeping an eye on how recharging has been affecting the use of various items on the server. Recharging is a mechanic that existed in Classic but was not very widely known or utilized. While this is not an issue in most cases, there are a few cases of it now being abused. Some examples of these items being used in a very unclassic and unintended way is an entire raid force using bags worth of an instant cast direct damage click items to blast a raid mob dead in less than a minute. Another situation is the use of these items to bypass the normal hate/aggro building mechanics of the game. Yet another case is the use of certain items to allow a low level player to defeat large groups of higher level mobs, effectively solo powerlevelling.

All of these are only possible because of the Recharge system, since it is simply a matter of cost (in some cases a very low cost) of being able to restore the max charges of the item. However, the staff has had several discussions and does not feel that disabling Recharging would be the right action to take at this time. Instead, we feel that it is better to identify the specific items that are being abused, and make balancing changes to them. This includes changing the buyback price (and in one case removing the ability to sell the item to merchants), and adding cast times to some of the items.

We will not be listing out the specific changes. Rather, players will need to discover them on their own.
Code
  • Rogean: Resolved an issue with Bellycasting.
  • Rogean: Resolved an issue where group heal spells were generating way more aggro than they should.
  • Rogean: Adjusted Rune spell aggro to be more in line with direct healing spells.
  • Haynar: Added pathing fixes.
  • Haynar: Added spell and mob push fixes.
  • Haynar: Added a fix for when mobs summon players, that was not updating z position correctly.
Content
  • Nilbog: Captain Hazran no longer cares for Vah`Shir weaponry.
  • Nilbog: Pike Fillets recipe corrected.
  • Nilbog: monstrous zombie is much larger.
  • Nilbog: Added many missing faction requirements for quest 'Rogue Errands'.
  • Nilbog: Decreased the chance to spawn Watchman Dexlin.
  • Nilbog: Togahn Sorast's, Carver Cagrek's quests are multiquestable.
  • Nilbog: 'Spirit Aid' quest should now work.
  • Nilbog: Treskar's quests should work much better. Added missing faction requirements.
  • Nilbog: Hukulk's, Ranjor's quests are multiquestable. Added missing faction requirements.
  • Nilbog: Pristine Lizard Scales no longer drop.
  • Nilbog: Chanda Miller's quests should work better.
  • Nilbog: runnyeye: a mimic no longer has a loot table.
  • Nilbog: Corrected an issue with paineel guild note on blue/red servers.
  • Nilbog: Corrected an issue causing many npcs to not display bad faction dialogue and/or hostile aggro messages.
  • Rogean: Resolved an issue with Vulak not casting AE's.
  • Rogean: Resolved an issue with Jorlleag casting Complete Heal without mana.
  • Nilbog/Rogean: Anyone completing the SoulFire quest from this point forward who is NOT a Paladin will recieve a SoulFire with 0 charges.

since patch notes to fix pathing:
On green, my groups have wiped about 10 times due to pathing.
Mistmoore:
Mobs pulled in castle warp all over the place, causing huge castle trains.

Cazic thule:

Meh.

If they cared about a classic Everquest experience, everything would be open source. That way people could work collectively to create a classic server, see different iterations, settle disputes as a communal effort.

I had some great times here, but it's ultimately a narcissistic "our rules" sandbox for the creators.

Which is pretty opposite of what eqemu started out as. They didn't hide stuff. They wanted people to have access to tools and work together to create interesting projects with the client.

All these people in here praising these changes when they have never tanked a mob, or ripped a pull, or are even able to begin to comprehend what these clickies even do or why they are necessary. These changes won't even effect you, and yet you are happy that they were made. Can someone explain why they are so happy about these changes? Give me an example of how your "classic" experience was wronged by an instant or rechargeable click item?

I know i'm just feeding the trolls at this point, but it's frustrating. Implementing changes that people may think are minor when they are really fucking major. This shit changes the entire raid scene. (In before "the raid scene is toxic anyway, you are the reason this server is shit blah blah" - The raid scene IS toxic, but this sure as shit won't help that.. unless the goal is to have everyone quit that isn't in the top zerg guild on the server, or join it)

Just because you want to casually play EQ, and you think that a wand or a root net is unbalanced, doesn't mean that there aren't thousands of other people in the raid scene who absolutely need aggro clickies, and other items, to succeed and sustain.

I don't usually post about any of this shit, but this one got me worked up.

To the trolls, you are welcome. To the rest, I can only hope my "bitchy" posts actually make a fucking difference.
Try to take your RL Elf as seriously as this Emu free game, and you could easily be a millionaire with a big family..maybe even president of the company or president of the country! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
