Shaman Epic sparkling gem turn-in

Was helping a Shammy friend with his epic and have run into a brick wall.

We've done all parts of epic leading up to this point (already have black dire pelt even.)

On hailing spirit sentinel he faces shammy. Cons amiable. Shaman not invis. Turn in gem. Nothing. Got a rando to kill the sentinel and gem is not on corpse.

Petitioned and got gem back a month later assuming it was a bug. Same thing happened last night.

Faction still not high enough? No steps skipped that i know of.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help!

Mobs will only drop items you give them when they were charmed. So this will never work for turn ins to any uncharmed mob. Propably will never work on quest mobs even if charmed but never tried it tbh.

Is it the right Spirit? There are two.
Exact locs for Spirit Sentinels in EJ are at:
- To start test +1235.01, +285.34 (in the hut, NW from CoM)
- +3854.30, -687.73 (underwater, in the lake)
You will need the one in the hut for this part.

If it is, it sounds like a faction issue, you can repeat parts of the quest to raise your faction to counter this.
The turn in is only a faction boost. You can skip it by repeating other steps until he answers the line 'I will continue what I have started.' if you want to keep going from that point.

For the entire epic you just need faction, no turn in except the last one is mandatory (you'll obviously will want the boots ofc too). How you achieve that faction does not matter.

2 spirits? The way it was worded in wiki made me think one pathed to 2 locations. I did the lake one.

That was the issue - lake spirit is the wrong one.
Both are static and don't path at all iirc.

At this part of the quest, you need to do the one inside building at +1250, +300 in Emerald Jungle which is involved for the following steps of the quest:
( ) Take gem to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle.
( ) Kill Black Dire in Mistmoore, loot Black Dire Pelt.
( ) Turn in pelt to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle. Receive Black Fur Boots! Get 6 slot booklet from the spirit.
( ) Collect 6 reports from the City of Mist for booklet.
( ) Combine and turn in completed booklet to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle.

Then the following steps involve the one at the bottom of the lake:
( ) Kill Lord Ghiosk in the City of Mist and loot the 3 books.
( ) Turn in books to Spirit in Emerald Jungle.
( ) Obtain Icon of the High Scale from the City of Mist (ground spawn in the temple).
( ) Give Icon to High Scale Kirn in the Hole, kill him and loot his ring.
( ) Give the ring to Neh`Ashiir in the City of Mist, kill her, loot her diary.
( ) Turn in the diary to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle.
( ) Go to Fear to kill the Iksar Broodling, loot Child's Tear (random spawn from killing Golems, slay either Dread, Fright, or Terror).
( ) Give the tear to Lord Rak`Ashiir in City of Mist, kill him and loot his Iksar Scale.
( ) Take Scale to Spirit Sentinel wolf in Emerald Jungle by the pond to receive your epic!
