I remember this show from my childhood, used to air on NRK during the 80s. I vividly recall it being one of the most horrendous and immoral and nasties shows of all.
Ragdolly Anna and the swedish show Rädda Joppe – död eller levande were other really messed up shows from that era that I hated as a kid, and Im appaled by these to this day.

The second series of the original production (the era I guess you grew up with) introduced a female diesel that looked like a trammy called Daisy. It fills in for one of the steamies while it is in repair. She was a highly strung engine that was fussy about which work to do, but eventually learned to be a valued engine on the railway.
