They are animals, but there are old comments on Allakhazam (2002) that say they are immune to charm (at least in the case of a gale wolf).

if it says "this only works on animals" it means the mob isnt flagged as such

you wont even fire the spell off to see a resist message, the spell gem just wont press
this is what is happening.
This has been my experience, as well.

Ice burrowers are too high for druids to charm here, but you can use IVA to sneak by them ( think goblin ring )

Maybe post this in bug forums? Might get a dev's attention faster. It's clearly a bug.

yes, i know. druids shouldn't kill stuff in Plane of Growth.

I am just testing my limits as a druid and i dont need faction anymore, just wondering why "a gale wolf" isn't considered an animal, or "a glade stalker" either for that matter.

The wiki says a gale wolf is a wolf, and a glade stalker is a bear. I havent seen any other mobs listed as an animal that i can't charm so it seems unique to this zone, any reason other than to prevent druids from charming them?

Try charming fire crocs near the firepot room in timorous. Wont work on them either
