Default Eq easter egs from quick google search.

you guys got me thinking so did a quick google search.

found this : http://www.erollisimarr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6398

"Tidbits of humor that the programmers have hidden for their own egos or for our amusement:
In Western Wastes, there is a shipwreck near the shore, with lots of shipwrecked pirates on board. And one engineer. Chief Engineer Tocs. (Scot spelled backwards, as in the famous Scottie from Star Trek).
As expected, the Plane of Mischief is full of silly names, like a Spectre (reminiscent of death itself) being called "Life". Or how about the giant hand called "My Finger" ("Hey - Monk - pull My Finger!"). Finally, check out these scarecrows in a lovely little upside-down room in the PoM: Mees, Gono, Keel and Uuuz ("Mees gonna kill yous"). Mees thinks the programmers had a blast with the Plane of Mischief!
Luclin has had it's share of tributes, too. The following list are all Legionnaires in Sanctus Seru - who just happen to have disturbingly similar names to the Safehouse Moderators:
Aiddan (moderator is Aidden)
Faie (Fiae)
Glap (Glip)
Gyarg (Gyorg)
Kazzek (Kezzek)
Rammi (Remmi)
Skross (Shadowcross)
Tibos (Tibis)
Vaslan (Vaslin)
Wraeni (Wraene)
Zota (Zato)
Fircka (Fricka)
In HighKeep, there once was a High-Elven princess being kept captive. She has since been moved to somewhere... else... Her name is Princess Lenya. When she was still a resident, if you hailed her, she said "Aren't you a little short for a High Keep Guard?" Anyway, her name (and her comment) referred to Princess Leia in Star Wars.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say. So, apparently, are bad puns. Two of the Beholders in the Gorge of King Xorbb are named "Syrkl" and "Sviir" - or Circle and Sphere. Also, Xorbb could be interpreted as "Orb."
You can really rell that the programmers are big Nintendo fans, just from some of the zone names... Everfrost Peaks is also the name of a level in Super Mario Kart Racing for the SNES, while the Lake of Ill Omen can be found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
The Gods must be crazy - or at least, the people who made them are; their names are FULL of anagrams.
Tunare (Goddess of Nature) = Nature
Fennin Ro (from the Plane of Fire) = Infernno (yes, slightly misspelled)
The Rathe (from the Plane of Earth) = The Earth
Xegony (from the Plane of Air) = Oxygen
Veeshan (child of Xegony, ruler of the sky) = Heavens
Tarew Marr (from the Plane of Water) = Water, Marr is similar to Mare, Latin for "sea".
Povar (from the Plane of Water) = Vapor
E'ci (from the Plane of Water) = Ice
Rodcet Nife (God of Healing) = Docter Fine (again mispelled).
In Dagnor's Cauldron, there are four NPC's that hang around a campsite. When the High Elf in the party attacks, he shouts "Fabulous Four, attack!" The Dwarf in the party attacks, he says, "It's bashing time!" This is quite obviously a reference to Marvel Comics' famous Fantastic Four.
The phrase to say to Kizdean Gix to get the note for Lrodd is "utalk adarev otcin". This is a misspelling of the quote from the movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." The words spelled backwards are "klatu verada nicto", which is close to the actual quote: "Klaatu barada nikto". - *YES*, Ash, did say it in "Army of Darkness." But Sam Raimi, writer/producer/director of the whole "Evil Dead" series, got it from "The Day the Earth Stood Still." BONUS TRIVIA! - Thanks to Pavol of Xegony, I've learned that Klaatu, Barada and Nikto are all skiff guards from "Return of the Jedi", the third of the original Star Wars movies, and sixth in the series.
Lady Shae, who hangs out in Hogcaller's Inn in West Freeport, would like to know what [house] you are in. Tell her you're from the House of Style, and she'll respond "I would never have guessed by the way you look!" And if you tell her that you from the International House of Pancakes, she says, "I can tell, it looks like you ate a house of pancakes!" Picture!"

Default LONG but cont from the other post link

Fulll list from the link i posted .

https://web.archive.org/web/20030610...asterquest.htm

"Everquest is populated with hundreds of non-player characters (or NPCs). With so many opportunities for bad puns and inside jokes, who could resist throwing in a few silly character names?
NEW!!!Here's one of my new personal favourites: The names of the paladins gathered on the hill top in Rathe Mountains bear an uncanny resemblance in both name and number to the cast of "Eight is Enough". This all thanks to Chwantaxx Gutblade. I wonder if he's a troll?
Thanks to Chwantaxx Gutblade!

NEW!!!In the Gorge of King Xorbb is a dwarf going by the name of Digs Duggin. Considering both Digs name and diminutive status, he bears an uncanny resemblance to a little hero in a once well known video game called Dig Dug. It seems the tunnel-like gorge is an appropriate place for Digs to be!

For those who don't remember, a little history from the Yesterdayland website.
Thanks to Arbeor of Prexus and Joseph Warren!

NEW!!!One of the greatest RPG-style animes of all time is Record of Lodoss War, and a very important character in that is known as Parn - the same name you'll find on a lonely High Elf merchant near the docks of Butcherblock.
Thanks to Nancy Canell and Angus Shinji Ikari!

NEW!!!Merchant Tekrama, I'm told, was named during the beta-testing of the Bazaar zone in Luclin. When strapped for originality, just reverse a word or two, right?
Thanks to SrA Joshua Ward (who apparently did the naming!)

NEW!!!Shadowknights get to meet a an interesting character on their quest for the ultimate Epic weapon. Kurron Ni is the Dark Elf who begins them on their quest. Notice how his name is very close to Innoruuk spelled backwards?
Thanks to Rozzl Grimtouch of the Seventh Hammer (who just happens to be a Troll Shadowknight!)

NEW!!!It's time for the new EQ Drinking game! From now on, whoever gets a killing blow on something in Permafrost takes a drink of Permafrost Schnapps. And then, when you kill Vox, everyone takes a shot of Vox Vodka!
Note that the admin of EasterQuest does not condone drinking and questing. Remember: Drinking and Questing can kill a group!
Thanks (*hic*) to Lolanie Brelinn (and drunken friends)!

NEW!!!Dontcha find it odd that a Druid named Ran Walker doesn't do either?
Thanks to Dave Isaac!

NEW!!!Pinky and the Brain... Pinky and the Brain... One is a genius, the other's in the Dragon Necropolis, disguised as a Paebala Rebel. When you kill it, the poor rat screams "poit...narfnarf...erp!". See picture.
Thanks to Milesgond Harelk of Ayonae Ro!

NEW!!! The Halfling Soulbinder Hoggle Grubbytoe shares his first name with the halfling-like character Hoggle in the movie "Labyrinth." Fortunately, this Hoggle is far less likely to charge for his services...
Thanks to Dinien of Fennin Ro and Sylken of Zebuxoruk!

*Luclin has it's own share of tributes - check out Fharra Cawfeet - a tribute to Farrah Fawcett, famous sex-kitten of Charlie's Angels.
Thanks to Alleax of Ayonae Ro!

*Another Luclin tribute - this one is to Sergio Aragonés' famous wandering barbarian - Groo the Wanderer. His namesake is Groo McManus, who is a Barbarian in Shadeweaver's Thicket on Luclin.
Thanks to Noini Lorien and Kaepras Innoruuk

Updated!* Well, it's not quite a reunion tour, but Ringo was spotted masquerading as a giant beetle in the Paludal Caverns.
John Lennon's namesake may be found in a bard in North Qeynos - Leanon Rucksey. It's a stretch, but believable.
Now to find Paul and George...
"Paul is dead!"
Thanks to Aladinsane of Lanys T'vyl and Fuudce Omenbringer of Antonious Bayle!

*Anybody who is a Tolkien fan would be familiar with "Dain" the dwarf ruler of the dwarven kingdom under the Lonely Mountain. In Velious, where everything is cold, there are the Colddain dwarves.
Thanks to Fangorn and Lodestone of Tunare!

*In Western Wastes, there is a shipwreck near the shore, with lots of shipwrecked pirates on board. And one engineer. Chief Engineer Tocs. (Scot spelled backwards, as in the famous Scottie from Star Trek).
Thanks to Diva of the Sith

*In Thurgadin, there is Meg Tucter and Talem Tucter - anagrams of "Gem Cutter" and "Metal Cutter" - can you guess what they sell?
Thanks to Taeri

*Some are born to greatness. Some have it thrust upon them...
On the first island on the way to Iceclad in Velious is a gnome named Joshel the Large. This is in reference to a player named Lasomb the Large, also a gnome, who was named by the server GM-Admin who later moved on to become the Lead Coder for, you guessed it, the Velious Expansion. Lasomb's player has also since moved on to GM status. Congrats, and welcome to your immortality!
Thanks to Shadex De'Marr

*Speaking of immortality, in the Hole there resides on Nortlav the Scalekeeper - very tough creature who carries dragon scales, and so is, understandably, very tough. He's named after Lead GM Valtron, from Erollisi Marr.
Thanks to Fujin Windhammer of Tunare and Alistair Denby!

*As expected, the Plane of Mischief is full of silly names, like a Spectre (reminiscent of death itself) being called "Life".
Thanks to Sir Furism Erud of Karana, Tephrox Veneficus, and Mephana LoveBunny

*Another in the Plane of Mischief - Bob the Painter. Bob Painter also happens to be Vyrinn/Vyrinnia, the former Lead GM of Tarew Marr. Now he/she has been promoted into the developer ranks somewhere. We miss you, Vyrinn(ia)!!! (For those who don't know the story, Vyrinnia started as a female, then became male later in life. Bob Painter does not suffer (or enjoy) the same treatment - but was one hell of a GM to work under.)
Thanks to Mr.Crystalblaze of Tarew Marr

*Luclin has had it's share of tributes, too. The following list are all Legionnaires in Sanctus Seru - who just happen to have disturbingly similar names to the Safehouse Moderators:
Aiddan (moderator is Aidden)
Faie (Fiae)
Glap (Glip)
Gyarg (Gyorg)
Kazzek (Kezzek)
Rammi (Remmi)
Skross (Shadowcross)
Tibos (Tibis)
Vaslan (Vaslin)
Wraeni (Wraene)
Zota (Zato)
Fircka (Fricka)
Also, 2 of the rogue guildmasters, Adipscorus Glipo and Pecuniosus Kezzlek, are named for Glip and Kezzek, the current and former membership coordinators at the safehouse.
And finally, there is one last one: Legionnaire Garffe, who is named after Graffe M`yrddin of the wizard site www.graffe.com
Thanks to "dontpanic"

*There's actually a fascinating story behind the creation of this amazing clockwork dragon, but that's not what makes him an egg - it's his name: Big Bynn - much like the clock tower in London, Bynn is a regular ticker...
Thanks to Boanerges Thundercry of the Cazic Thule server

*"At Kurn's Tower, everything must go!" Bargynn, famous inhabitant of this tower of the undead and burynai, resides in the basement, with his yard-sale collection of merchandise. "Bargynn basement" - get it?
Thanks to Leslie Shannon

*Just how ugly is she, anyway? Lynuga the troll is so ugly, even her name is "an ugly" one... (Lynuga is an anagram of "an ugly").
Thanks to Toboch Tazzlehead of Xev

*Bait Masterson use to be found in East Freeport where he spawned on the shore near the rock in the middle of the water. Now, he has recently been seen in the Qeynos Aqueducts, where he is a placeholder for a quest. His name is a reference to William Barclay "Bat" Masterson, the American frontier lawman known for his good looks and ivory-handled pistols. This Bait, however, seems only interested in fishing...
Some people have suggested a less-than-honourable reason for the name - claiming that he must have become a master at his chosen profession of baiting - however, I chose to ignore that one. Of course the fact that he's followed by "Giz" Dinree... oh nevermind.
Thanks to Fudce and Lysandria

*In HighKeep, there once was a High-Elven princess being kept captive. She has since been moved to somewhere... else... Her name is Princess Lenya. When she was still a resident, if you hailed her, she said "Aren't you a little short for a High Keep Guard?" There is still a "Princess Lenia" in a jail cell downstairs - but she's a little different...
Anyway, her name (and her comment) referred to Princess Leia in Star Wars.

*Guards Regis and Philbin in the Qeynos Hills area. These both refer to Regis Philbin, popular TV talkshow and gameshow host.

*In South Karana, you'll find a Bard at the fountain named Vhalen which could be interpreted as an abbreviation for Van Halen, a rock and roll band.
Others have suggested "Valen" - a character from the popular Science Fiction television show "Babylon Five" - however, in light of his musical nature, I'm sticking with the first interpretation. That, and his comments - see the next egg....

*Vhalen also has some interesting things to say about a bard named "Metala" - perhaps a rivalry between Van Halen and Metallica?

*Speaking of Metallica, check out the two Barbarians in West Karanas - Lars and Ulrich. Lars Ulrich is the drummer for the Napster-hating band.
Thanks to John Herrington, Kortalh Rhufoniog and Robbie Bemrich

*A bard merchant in Freeport is named Jekel Enheid - like "Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde", a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson.

*Cubert, the Gelatinous Cube underneath Qeynos, is a reference to a popular arcade game during the 80's: Q-Bert.

*Lake Rathetear has a Prince Kyrmt Keroppi - the frogluk. Kin to Kermit the Frog, perhaps? Plus, his title, Prince, suggests the Frog Prince of fairytale fame - feel like kissing a frog anyone? Also, Keroppi is the name of one of Hello Kitty's friends, who just happens to be a frog. A triple pun! (thanks to far too many people to note here)

*Silly Bard names! You've seen them everywhere - but where oh where is the oft-rumoured Fabian? His real-life namesake was a popular singer in the Fifties and early Sixties. But much like his namesake, he is nowhere to be seen now. * * * Update! * * * Fabian has been seen in Freeport now, so feel free to bop on by the Grub n Grog, to catch one of his infamous performances, but don't bother with his quest - it's not worth the trouble.

*At the very bottom of Ak'anon, they have a scrapyard, and who should maintain that Scrapyard but one Sanfyrd Montop (his name has recently changed to Sanfyrd Featherhead for a Ranger quest, but Ak'anon quest messages still refer to the old name). This is quite possibly an homage to that lovable cantankerous old coot, salvage-yard owner Fred Sanford, as seen on "Sanford and Son," a sitcom during the 70's. Added trivia bonus: Fred Sanford was played by Redd Foxx, whose real name was John Elroy Sanford.

*In Kedge Keep, two high-powered sharks go by the names of "Cauldronboil" and "Cauldronbubble" - reference's to Shakespeare's MacBeth.

*In Kithicor Forest, three named tigers can be found by the names of Reggit, Eenot, and Hobbes(?) - apparently plays on three famous tigers: Tigger, Tony and Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes.
Thanks to John Beckemeier

*By the shore of the lake in the West Commonlands sits a lonely man skipping stones. His name used to be Skippyn Stoneshear. ("Skipping Stones Here"). Someone buy him a fishing pole, so he has something else to do. *Update* His name is now Skippyn Stonesheart. What a change.

*The Gnomes of Steamfont are no less free from punsters - just watch that dirty little backstabbing Feddi Dooger - which some have said is a reference to that horror-film villain, Freddy Krueger. (I guess he's a real nightmare to the younguns.) In the early days of EQ, Feddi didn't wander alone, either... he had two friends: Mydol Byers (Michael Myers - Halloween), and Nornan Dates (Norman Bates - Psycho). Sounds like Steamfont was a horror-filled place to grow up!
Thanks to John Herrington, Kevin Miller, and Exok Grimstone of Saryn

*Also in Steamfont, you will find a lovely little clockwork spider named Charlotte - after the title spider in Charlotte's Web.
Thanks to Garon Galloway

*In Dagnor's Cauldron, there are two rats by the names of Flotsam and Jetsam - methinks they escaped a sinking ship somewhere... (Flotsam refers to any wreckage left in the sea after a shipwreck, while jetsam is any cargo deliberately thrown overboard and washed ashore or sunk.) Incidentally, these also happen to be the names of the two electric eels who harassed Ariel in Disney's "The Little Mermaid."
In another possible nod to Metallica (or perhaps just coincidence) Flotsam and Jetsam was also the name of a band - one of their former members (Jason Newsted) is now Metallica's bassist.
And another possibility, and the most intriguing to me, is the reference from JRR Tolkein's The Two Towers. "Flotsam and Jetsam" is the name of the chapter in which Saruman's tower, Orthanc, was destroyed by the Ents, who diverted an entire river, submerging the tower. Merry and Pippin took the names of Flotsam and Jetsam, from the idea of detritus washed up on the shore of the artificial lake. Since Dagnor's Cauldron also covers submerged ruins, this reference certainly has a lot of relevance...
Thanks to Kelton Lightforge, Scott Salyers, Toreck Troublemaker, Mark Ellister, Eric Statlander, Dean Ross, Oldoak of the Seventh Hammer Server, and Darkalen Foolsbarrow

*Highkeep sports an unusually large number of strange names for guards. Stop by and visit with Chopin and Bach (in the music room) Bolton (Michael's cousin?), Antilles (Wedge! I gotcher back!), and Duras (which some say is phonetic for "Guard Yer ass" - No, I don't think this was a reference to Klingons). You can also visit the prison, where you may see Guards Handy and Chin (Chin guard, hand guard).
Thanks to Megtilia Drunkshadow, Scott Ervin and others

*The desert of South Ro has some pretty dry humour, too - check out the Sand Giant "Hassan" - a reference to a classic Warner Brother's character... "Hasan.... CHOP!"
Thanks to Ninvaen

*Sirran the Lunatic, a Halfling in the Plane of Sky, is said to be an anagram of a GM - Narris the Lunatic the Halfling GM.
Thanks to Josh Ward

*The West Karanas also boasts Sir Loin. Beef. It's what's for dinner.
Thanks to Marcus J Witt

*A resident of the Plane of Air, this one is much more rare (ooo - poetry!). His name is Nottap Ekim - which is Mike Patton, from Faith No More, spelled backwards.
Thanks to William A Stubbs

*Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say. So, apparently, are bad puns. Two of the Beholders in the Gorge of King Xorbb are named "Syrkl" and "Sviir" - or Circle and Sphere. Also, Xorbb could be interpreted as "Orb" - another round joke...
Thanks to Bridget

*Here's one for the "truly obscure" category - In Qeynos, near the city gates, stands a man by the name of Tubal Weaver. He is terribly greedy and overcharges horribly, and doesn't pay nearly enough for goods. In Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, there is a similarly stingy and dishonest fellow, also by the name of Tubal...
Thanks to Maben Wolfbrother

*There are two guards on the stone bridge in North Karana - the one on the West being named Oistyn, and the East being Westyn.
Thanks to Scott Salyers

*Even the newly discovered outpost of Firiona Vie isn't safe from rampaging puns - the bankers there are known as Wella and Wellford Fargin. Predecessors to the great Wells Fargo, perchance?
Thanks to Karisma Swiftarrow

*In Innothule Swamp is an elf named Jars Legola. This could be a reference to the elf Legolas from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Thanks to Matt Waggoner

*Qeynos was ready for newbies from day one. Even the guards new that. Ask Guard Wenbie (anagram of Newbie) and Guard Kwint (anagram of Twink). Both guards are involved in very low-level quests.
Thanks to William J. Michalski and Gregory Gadow

*Also in Neriak, in the Bar known as the Maiden's Fancy, you will find two characters: Belyea and Cecile Kjartan. I have it on good authority that these refer to one of the original GMs, Stephen Belyea and his wife, Cecile. Kjartan was Stephen's alias on many muds. Now that's immortality!
*Another dose of immortality - Kevan MacPherson, of MacPherson's Meats in Halas, obviously refers to former programmer Kevin MacPherson.
Thanks to Greg Peterson!

*Spoolie Gee is a tailoring merchant in North Ro. It's also a reference to a Beastie Boy's track, 'What'cha Want' on the "Check Your Head" CD. (Spoolie Gee says, "Yo yo yo, homies! What'cha Want? I got da patterns you need!")
Thanks to Chrysalsix Peachfuzz the Fuzzy cleric of Brell, Cohors Praetoria on the 7th Hammer server, Crysies the cutest enchanter on Solusek Ro, and Casey Rayl

Updated!*In Qeynos, you'll find a couple of merchants named Sansa Nusk and Joffrey Clay. Sansa and Joffrey are characters from the "Song of Fire and Ice" series by George R.R. Martin. The Clay part of Joffrey's name may also be another nod to Geoffrey Clay Zatkin - head of all things spell-related in EQ.
Thanks to Leachreas Afterglow of Xegony and Meraxos Grayswandir (Veeshan)

*This one is obvious to those who have visited the lands of Velious and entered the dwarven city of Thurgadin. Much like the good-race bankers in Firiona Vie, these two have a Real World tie. The bankers in Thurgadin are two brothers by the names of Mort and Gage, forming Mortgage! Everyone check your in-game bank account if you bank with these fellas, they might be sheisting you out of money!!
Thanks to the dozens of people who submitted it, and Jason Baum of the Ayonae Ro Server, who made the perfect writeup [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

*Tolapumj (or, rarely, Tolapmuj - two different names), the Froglok assistant to Trakanon in Sebilis, is an anagram of "Jump a lot". *BOING!*
Thanks to Sordo, Sehrak Crysal of Bertoxxulous, Norinrad of Rodcet Nife and DFJ2

*Word of advice to programmers: Never try to come up with names for your mobs at 3 in the morning, or you might end up with a list like these, from Skyshrine:
These sentries are all Velium Golems... made of.. well... what, exactly?
Sentry Drahs = Shard
Sentry Dumtew = Wet Mud
Sentry Emil = Lime
Sentry Enots = Stone
Sentry Kcor = Rock
Sentry Maof = Foam
Sentry Trid = Dirt
Sentry Rotiart = Traitor... hrm... wonder why?
Guardians are Velium Imps... Guess they had the same namer...
Guardian Selbbep = Pebbles
There is also a Bouncer Boulder, but I don't know what it is.
Thanks to EVERYONE who sent me these...

*Also in Skyshrine, and a possible nod to the infamous shows on television:
Guardian Selucreh = Hercules
Anex = Xena
Suez = Zeus
(And a few miscellaneous names that just appear to have been thrown in):
Commander Leuz = Zuel, from Ghostbusters?
Yaced = Decay

Thanks to EVERYONE who sent me these...

*Watch what these bartenders mix you in Skyshrine:
Bartender Diphenyl: In it's most basic form, Diphenyl is an insecticide, and is used to manufacture herbicides.
Bartender Ovalene: As any kid from the 50s will tell you, "Chocolatey" Ovaltine *seemed* like a poison.... but in reality, Ovalene (not Ovaltine) is a luminescent chemical - and probably quite toxic.

Thanks to Seilat

*And STILL in Skyshrine, check out these Guardian combinations:
In the pool room near the zone to Cobalt Scar, there are 2 pairs of Guardians: one pair is Guardian Salva and Guardian Tion...salvation.
The other pair is Guardian Llomed and Guardian Noit, spelled backwards and put together form Demolltion, which in the standard EQ font looks like demolition.

Thanks to Ramladu and Mark Matuszewski!

*Looks like the Qeynos guards better start watching out for decapitated horse heads in their beds... Corrupt Guard McCluskey in West Karana is reminiscent of corrupt Police Captain McCluskey in The Godfather.
Thanks to Farnham of Solusek Ro and Tuxedox Crystalblaze of Tarew Marr!

*This one has got to be one of my personal favourites. In Paineel, there is a Shadowknight named Azzar Habbib. If he doesn't like you, he shouts, "Behold the power of the Dreadful Hat!" as he attacks. If he does like you, he'll tell you that his hat was stolen by a giant bat, which is the beginning of the Dreadful Cap quest.
But that's not the weird part. Azar Habib is a real person - an Arabic musician, made "famous" in the gaming world by a little flash video, featuring a song he performed, some bizarre pictures of a hat dancing from one person's head to another, and some very interesting subtitling... http://user.tninet.se/~prv247p/hatt/hatten.swf
The words you are reading are NOT any form of Middle Eastern, they are Swedish. Some wacky Swede (which doesn't narrow the list a whole lot) made up some Swedish lyrics that more or less sound like the Arabic lyrics. The Swedish version has phrases like "The hat is yours!" "Glue the Ham! Cool!" and "Let's dump the hat in Bert's coke-au-lait!"
Only the Swedes would put milk in their soda and then write a song about dunking a happy hat into it. (But then, they also gave us Abba!)
Thanks to Mike Patterson for the great writeup!
Hatt-baby, hatt-baby...

*Ever notice how Dragoons seem faster than everyone else? I think Dragoon Barber W'Selo in the Overthere might have the answer for you...
Thanks to Nicholas Walker!

*When creeping across the Western Wastes, listen carefully... you might just be able to make out the faint sounds of...
TANTOR THE MAMMOTH - also known as Tarzan's elephant friend from Edgar Rice Burrough's famous series.
Thanks to Khitajrah and BriLand!

*Here's a quicky - ever seen "Scruffy the Rat" in the Qeynos Hills? Patrick Krueger pointed out that Saturday Night Live used to have a "Scruffy the Rat" sketch. I suppose it could be worse... The Karanas could be infested with door-to-door land sharks...
Thanks, Patrick!

Updated!*Willow was definitely one of the best movies to popularize halflings, so it's no surprise that there are a number of hidden tributes to that movie, including Sorsha Hobbitfriend, found in the West Commons selling supplies. She may refer to the character Sorsha in Willow. Remember - even though she started out evil, she became good in the end, fighting alongside Willow. Granted, they weren't hobbits - but close enough!
Also, there is a halfling in the druid / ranger guild named Megosh, possibly referring to Willow's best friend.
Thanks to Redriver of Tarrew Marr, Tryphyna Stormwind of Xev, Thayn Bloodraven and Hesster Shadowscale!

*I see a kinder, gentler world, with kinder, gentler puns... like Shmendrick Lavawalker, the Magician in Lake Rathetear. He's a kind nod to Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn.
Thanks to Allen Wallace and Hesster Shadowscale!

Places
Place names and details are no less secure from fun-loving programmers. Just check out these little tidbits!
NEW!!!The Burning Woods might just have a little to do with Stephen King's "The Tommyknockers" - a story about a spaceship found beneath "The Burning Woods".
Thanks to DJared!

*You can really rell that the programmers are big Nintendo fans, just from some of the zone names... Everfrost Peaks is also the name of a level in Super Mario Kart Racing for the SNES, while the Lake of Ill Omen can be found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, also for the SNES.
Thanks to Mnemento and Edward Umheiser of Tallon Zek

*My personal favourite for simplicity has got to be Qeynos. Spelled backwards, it's SonyEQ.

*Another city name anagram, we see Felwithe transformed to White Elf - who just happens to reside there.
Thanks to Amlinalya and Widgit Strongheart of Brell Serilis

*The Gods must be crazy - or at least, the people who made them are; their names are FULL of anagrams.
Thanks to Shaylanna Shadoestreak, Karisma Swiftarrow, Ioshua and Tennian
"Paging Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard..."

*Rolfron Zek - Another god - this one is followed by the Kobolds of The Warrens. It might seem like a coincidence that his name is an anagram of "Forlorn" - until you realize that "Forlorn" weapons drop in The Warrens...
Thanks to Khandi Gloomweaver from Luclin

*The full name for "Unrest" is "The Estate of Unrest" - or "A state of unrest," which one could say all of the residents are in.

*In Blackburrow, (and possibly other zones) you can see a fossilized "Alien" skeleton in the walls. Somehow, I think Ripley would approve. Update: This has been corrected (and is much more obvious now with the Luclin graphics upgrade) - it's actually a dinosaur skeleton that has apparently eaten its young. You can see the skeleton for real at the Michigan Museum of Natural History.
Thanks to Talloon Shortgoose of Fennin Ro for the update

*Apparently one of the programmers wanted to immortalize his cat. In an area underneath Befallen, Veeshan's Peak and some other zones (a place only GMs can go normally, however players and some mobs sometimes end up there as well), you will see the head of this programmer's cat.
As an added bonus, I've been told that this cat's name is Mitty - which just also happens to be the name of a Kerran (cat-person) in Erud's Crossing. Picture!
Thanks to Josh Ward and Dustin

Updated!*The Innothule swamp is easy enough to figure out - Innoruuk + Cazic-Thule = Innothule. According to Norrathian lore there was a war between Innoruuk and Rallos Zek in the swamp. When Innoruuk was about to lose, Cazic-Thule swooped in and helped. Thus the swamp remains as a testament to their combined efforts.
Thanks to Brigandier Hellbringer of the Rathe, Thomas Skaggs and Void* of Fennin Ro

*In the Qeynos sewers there is graffiti that says 'Aradune is stinky' I wonder if Brad knew about this ahead of time?

*In nearly every inn and tavern across Norrath, there is a picture of "things" playing poker - where the things are a play on the name of the place. For example, Crow's in Qeynos has crows playing poker, while Tassel's in Freeport has tassels playing poker, and the Blind Fish tavern in Neriak sports fish in shades with white canes. They are all a tribute to the famous "Dogs Playing Poker" series of paintings by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge (circa 1910's).

*Remote Halas, home of the Barbarians, is still not remote enough to be safe from the ego of at least on programmer. Belly up to McQuaid's (as in Brad McQuaid) Bar for a bottle of smug, or a shot of gloat. While you're at it, snag some smokes at (Scott) McDaniel's Smokes and Spirits...
Thanks to Tamboran Ratamacue, History Filidh of the Soerbaird, Michael Praschl, Charles Flock Folok Solot, and Lilucia

*Next time you're in Halas, stop by McDaniels Smokes and Spirits, and buy a bottle of Jack (Daniels, that is...)
Thanks to

*Paineel is rich with humour - check out Good Iva's Sweets (like Godiva Chocolates...) To bad there's not a naked lady on a horse there...
Thanks to Josh Ward

*Also in Paineel, there's the Bank called "The Final Reckoning." A nice little pun relating to finalizing one's assets...
Thanks to Seilat

*On the looooong ramp from High Hold Pass to East Karana, there are a number of artistic pieces on the walls. I have it on excellent authority that the one of a lady is a tribute to an EQ artist's ex-girlfriend, while another one is a digitized sampling of a picture of Brad McQuaid. I guess the real thing would have been too much....
Things
In the realm of the truly bizarre, EverQuest programmers would be kings. These are some of the various little gems hidden in different things around Norrath.
NEW!!!Type /hungry. A nice nod to the classic arcade game, Gauntlet.
Thanks to Chondrus Kusatteiru of Karana!

NEW!!!Lucky Monks might find themselves in possession of a new toy: Caen's Bo Staff of Fury. This item is named after the legendary monk, Kwai Chang Caine, from the TV series Kung Fu (played by David Carradine). Fight well, young grasshoppers!
Thanks to Aeras Silverfur of Bristlebane!

NEW!!!Torilmud (Aradune's original home) is apparently the home for a lot of the inspiration of things in the days of Everquest: a wizard's tower inhabited by land sharks, a Bottomless Bag of Tinkers, a Silver Runed Bolster Belt, a Creeping Doom spell, and many many more. I guess Aradune just couldn't forget his past...
Thanks to Chris Wilczewski!

*Looking for a new breastplate? I've got a number you can call: 867-5309. For those of you who remember the song, then this little piece of work should be really familiar: Jenniy's Two Tone Cuirass - which is, of course, a tribute to the song "Jenny (867-5309)" by Tommy Tutone. The stat bonuses on the breastplate are +8 STR, +6 DEX, +7 STA, +5 CHA, +30 WIS, +9 INT - which, of course, make the numbers for the song.
Thanks to Raventod of Luclin, Hunkofa Man the Champion of Bertoxxulous, and Michael Phillips

Updated!* One of the most interesting spell names in EQ, Pogonip appears to have been named after a 640 acre park in Santa Cruz, which happens to be named after a Shoshone Pauite word referring to a type of ice fog. We can credit Chwantaxx Gutblade for the name - he's from Santa Cruz, and the honour of naming the spell went to him.
Thanks to Seilat!

Updated!* Luclin seems to be the place for tributes - you'll find nice ones in the quotes by some of the creatures there. For example, A Singultus Proeliator in Grieg's End, shouts "Brains!" before attacking - a tribute to the Return of the Living Dead, a low-budget horror movie.
Thanks to Joseph Murphy, Tene M and Raventod of Luclin

Updated!* Also, in Marus Seru, a Hand of Seru was heard to exclaim, "No one expects the Seru Inquisition!" every time they killed something - a tribute to Monty Python's "Spanish Inquisition" skit.
The Legionairres of Seru, in Sanctus Seru, on the other hand, will respond to several things, including "You suck" ("Verily, methinks YOU doth sucketh more than I"), "Aradune is stinky! ("We all know that!"), and "I want phat lewt" ("Have you visited the plane of growth lately?").
Thanks to Ayanla of Xev, Kregormar Wolfgeist of Fennin Ro and Razma of Rallos Zek

*Luclin's been released, and along with the moon, we have a planetfull of new easter eggs. The first happens while loading. If you watch as the game loads, there is a progress bar which details which features are being loaded. But wait - not all those features are so well documented! Thanks to Samira of Innoruuk and Eatatt Joes of E'ci
*When fishing away from water, you get the message "Trying to catch land sharks, perhaps?" - a tribute to a hilarious skit from Saturday Night Live. I'm also told that the Land Shark sketch was in itself a tribute: to Jimmy Buffett's "Fins". Allegedly this comes from a former SNL writer, and has about the same veracity as my mother's cousin's uncle's dog's former owner's dentist's daughter-in-law, but hey - it's fun to think about, right?
Thanks to Tephrox Veneficus and Mercwyn Winddancer of The Tribunal

*In Dagnor's Cauldron, there are four NPC's that hang around a campsite. When the High Elf in the party attacks, he shouts "Fabulous Four, attack!" The Dwarf in the party attacks, he says, "It's bashing time!" This is quite obviously a reference to Marvel Comics' famous Fantastic Four.
Thanks in part to Steve Bryson, Sunny Walker and Scott Ringler

*The runes on the side of the Qeynos watchtower can be translated - but you have to know runic, and they're spelled backwards. The inside ring spells out Qeynos, while the outer ring spells out Ak'anon Gnomes.

*The phrase to say to Kizdean Gix to get the note for Lrodd is "utalk adarev otcin". This is a misspelling of the quote from the movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." The words spelled backwards are "klatu verada nicto", which is close to the actual quote: "Klaatu barada nikto". Now, I've gotten about a million "corrections" to this - *YES*, Ash, did say it in "Army of Darkness." But Sam Raimi, writer/producer/director of the whole "Evil Dead" series, got it from "The Day the Earth Stood Still." BONUS TRIVIA! - Thanks to Pavol of Xegony, I've learned that Klaatu, Barada and Nikto are all skiff guards from "Return of the Jedi", the third of the original Star Wars movies, and sixth in the series.
"Klaatu borada n... Necktie... Nickel... It's an "N" word, it's definitely an "N" word!"

*In South Karana, you will find a Putrid Skeleton that says "Never fear...Smyth isss...Here!!" This, of course, being a reference to Dr. Smith's line in "Lost in Space," the movie. Picture!
Smyth appears to have a friend - Westyn... "Smith and Wesson", of course being the famous gun manufacturers.
There may also be two others:
1. Gandil the great. First baseman Arnold "Chick" Gandil was the ring leader of the infamous Black Sox Eight who conspired and succeeded in throwing the 1919 world series. He also kept the $80,000 bribe that he was supposed to distribute to the other team member who were in the conspiracy. A notably evil person.
2. Come and join Barger! Sonny Barger, now 62, was the biker who started Hell's Angels. He has been accused of murder, drug dealing, and multiple other felonies. Unless you are a biker, he could be considered a powerful force of evil. Thanks to George Olive, Knytmare Firinne of Bristlebane and Fritz Fauber!

*Charm a griffon. Tell it /pet sit down. Laugh. Incidentally, this also works with numerous other mobs. Go ahead, have a charming day [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

*If you kill lizardmen in the Lost Temple of Cazic-Thule, you get faction adjustments with two strange groups: "Allize Taeew" and "Allize Volew". Backwards they're "We love Zilla" and "We eate Zilla". Hrm. Little spelling problem there [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] My assumption is that they refer to the Godzilla - a really large lizard. You can find a nearly-life size replica in the Ocean of Tears - going by the name of Allizewasaur.
Thanks to Brandon Baker and Deene Crystalis!

Updated!*Lady Shae, who hangs out in Hogcaller's Inn in West Freeport, would like to know what [house] you are in. Tell her you're from the House of Style, and she'll respond "I would never have guessed by the way you look!" And if you tell her that you from the International House of Pancakes, she says, "I can tell, it looks like you ate a house of pancakes!" Picture!
There is also the possibility that the name refers to the character Lady Shae in George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice series. A prostitute hired by Tyrin Lannister, it makes sense, since the EQ version has a bit of a weakness for wine...
Thanks to Random, Luc Thiltgès, Sean Rhea, Andrew Kugelstadt, Bayn El'Kaneh, Brandon Bousman and Carinola Starrfyre!

*Who would have thought TWO people would have invented the oh-so-tasty treat, "Lizard-on-a-stick"? No one - that's why it's an inside joke! But if you've ever played Fallout or Fallout 2, you are probably familiar with this amazing delicacy. Also, if you look closely during one of the Conan movies, you might just see him munching on our favourite reptilian snack....
Thanks to Grnadd Fleshwound - whom I believe invented the recipe [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.], and Tejasa who improved it!

*Dill Fireshine is obviously a fan of the Fire Beatles - after all, he calls the Crushbone Orcs "Blue meanies" - which just happens to be the same name as the creatures the Beatles are fleeing in the movie "The Yellow Submarine."
Thanks to Nils Hedglin!

*Gearheart, a gnomish clockwork in Lesser Faydark, must be a big Lost in Space fan - when he attacks, he shouts "Danger, Princess Jolina, Danger!"
Thanks to Vexxor!

*This one is very much not-confirmed, but I am told that there were two NPCs: a female Barbarian, Lenka Stoutheart, and Bronto Thudfoot, her male Ogre Paladin companion, who spoke of making the "Kunark Run" in their vessel, the "Blue Beast." The way they spoke of it was reminiscent of Han Solo's comments about the Millenium Falcon in "Star Wars IV: A New Hope."
Now Lenka and Bronto reside permanently in Firiona Vie, so the assumption is that they made the run [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Thanks to Kailyn Longstride, Rémi Tippetts, and Aandaie Gurglebrook

*Guard Cheslin in the Qeynos Hills is a bit of an irresponsible lout - always dropping his cards all over the place. You see, it seems that he plays a game called "Illusion" - which is similar to "Magic: The Gathering" - even down to the names. A couple of examples: Ebon Lotus = Black Lotus, and Library of Erud = Library of Alexandria.
Thanks to Somaa Vayu!

*Rivervale Deputies are right proud of their duds - in fact, if you complement them ("Nice hat!" or "Nice mask!") they'll tell you just how proud!
Thanks to Demitri0!

*Deputies aren't the only one's proud of their status. Marshall Anrey of Rivervale (upstairs above the bank) has a very strict attitude on how he is addressed. When you say, "Hello Marshall Anrey", he barks that you should not be lazy, and address him with "Hail," like all other deputies.
Thanks to Mumsley Thunderfoot of the Luclin Server!

Updated!*There is a Dwarven lady standing at the end of the docks in Butcherblock named Glorin Binfur, eagerly awaiting your love. If you tell her "I love you," she responds favourably, saying how nice your names are together. If you ask her to marry you, she'll respond, "Why yes I'll marry you ......, we'll make a fine couple." She's not very particular, however, as she has been seen professing her love for both men and women of every race.
Also, if you tell her she is an "ugly dorf" she responds by saying "I believe the word '_____'(the name of the player who spoke to her) is dwarven for ignorant, smelly skuzz bucket. That's what I hear."
Thanks to Willowsong Silverleaf of Xegony, Aemelia Silvyrstar and Keith Roper!

*Higher level Enchanters have probably already noticed this, but two of the Enchanter "Animation" line spells are actually anagrams of Geoffrey Zatkin's name - Yeogreff's Animation and Kintaz's Animation. For those who do not know, GZ is head of all things related to spells in Everquest.

*Ever feel like you have the weight of the gods on your shoulders? Well, now all Clerics can, with a simple trip to the Plane of Air. The shoulder-worn Weight of the Gods is a rather rare piece, but I'm told that it's worth the burden.
Thanks to Ellysia of Bristlebane!

*Another exceedingly difficult to acquire item is the Nature's Walker Scimitar, which is the epic blade for Druids. This fine blade has some very tiny writing along the blade. These runes, when translated, spell out, "May Earth and Sky Protekt You KTR." I wonder who, or what, KTR refers to.... Picture!. Now some say it means "Kiter" - referring to how some druids earn their experience. Others claim it stands for "Karana, Tunare and..." with the last being anyone from Rathe to Rodcet Nife. I doubt this last since the only gods for Druids are Tunare and Karana. Finally, and I think this might be the most likely, Heffling pointed out that it probably stands for Karana, the Rainkeeper.
Thanks to Maeyanie Deathwyrm for the picture, and Seilat for the translation! Also, thanks to the hundreds of people who pointed out what KTR could refer to.

*Velious is not the place to go looking for "phat lewt." If you somehow find yourself on the Plane of Mischief, you may meet a black unicorn by the name of Lithiniath. Lithiniath has a vErY uNUsuAl wAy oF sPEaKiNG... but if you ask Lithiniath for some ph4t l3wtz, Lithiniath will tell you that Prince Thirneg has amassed quite a supply of phat lewts, and that you should probably ask him for some. Since this was not in Lithiniath's style of speaking, it's probably a phrase from another character, so more than one mob may react this way. Picture!
Making your way to the Plane of Growth, you may find Prince Thirneg - but beware of telling him what you came for... If you tell him, "I have come here for phat lewts" he says that you will find no "Phat Lewts" here, and slays you instantly. Methinks the programmers got tired of leet-dood lewt-hunters. Picture! Rumour has it that Tunare herself will do the same...
Thanks to Lanaya Quickaswolf, Vladrek Diamondhart, Dimuyen Sylvanesty, Aleminster Tas´Kaernon and the Triton Guild on Povar!

*Yet another from Velious, this time it's Thermin Wandereye, who, when asked what quest he's going to go on, he mentions the usual stuff, then says that he doesn't want to go crazy, "you know like calculate which weapon is the most efficient and debate over it in public forums to no end. Picture!
*Ever wonder what the heck "Pain and suffering tries to hit you but misses... you have died!" means? Well, here's a picture of someone Pain and Suffering *didn't* miss. A LOT. Ewwww... I hope "Pain and suffering" brought a squeegee to scrape poor Toppil off the wall...
*UPDATE* Udon managed to snap a shot of the elusive "Pain and suffering", in what is apparently his regular hang-out: The Paineel newbie zone. Makes sense. Paineel... Pain.... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Thanks to Toppil, whoever shot his picture, and Udon

*Speaking of pain... Check out this little tidbit from Paineel: In the Tabernacle of Terror, there resides a Spirit Chanter who must have been friends with Merlin. Every 30 seconds or so, he moans what seems to be part of the Charm of Making from Excalibur: "Ooossveth Bessssthaaad Ooossveth Bessssthaaad Ooossveth Bessssthaaad Ooossveth Bessssthaaad" (note: This is NOT a sound file).
Is that a fog I see rolling in?
Thanks to Stormlord
Anál nathrach, orth' bháis's bethad, do chél dénmha

*Gravestone hunting is a popular pasttime in the real world, so no reason why it shouldn't be popular on Norrath as well. In the Mistmoore graveyard, you will find two marked semi-legible gravestones. One is for "Hutch, was a good man, and a great warrior" and the other for "Brandon, was a great man and a [sic] excellent 3D artist." Hutch may refer to Mike Hutchins, assistant producer. As for Brandon, we can but assume that this refers to Brandon McDonald, one of the staff artists.
Thanks to Andy Patrizio and Seilat!

*Another famous graveyard is in the tutorial. You can find all sorts of people there, including Dyne the Diligent (Pour Homme), Mixxy the Bitter (death was always in her wake), Vashaar the All Seeing (his eyes are at last shut), Binelen the Pathweaver (we are as lost children without her), Aradune the Green (his flaming sword was a beacon to all), Ssra (snuffer of worlds), and Xectia the Tardy (even unto the grave).
Thanks to Spuff Nuffendud and Seilat!

*Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) taught us that you should always have your towel - a lesson perhaps learned by Alrik Farsight, a Druid living in the Timorous Deep. If you hail him, he says, "Too many towels. Oh well, someone told me they were good to have once."
Thanks to Sajar Bladtracker and Varne of Cazic Thule!
"A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have." - Ford Prefect, "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

*True to it's name, the Plane of Mischief is full of fun. No programmer could resist throwing in some hidden jokes for those few hardy adventurers able to make it all the way there. The zone itself is full of a number of strangely named creatures - skunks called fish, plants called moldy sausage - and a bunch of strange rooms and areas. But perhaps the most interesting things are some of the hidden mob jokes... For example, in one room, you find four human-sized sphinxes who want to dance for you. Tell Ashley, Brittina, Diana and Roxxanne that you would like to see them dance, and they will jump up and do the Marinara (Hey!) for you. Picture!. If you ask them to teach you to dance, they encourage you to dance, then cast a Magi Curse on you!
In a nearby area, a giant hand named Pinky Ekkolofezznaboten II likes to hear knock knock jokes. Well... not really. If you say "Knock knock," he laughs and says "Here's a knock for you!", then casts a spell that throws you backwards.Picture! I'd hate to see what he'd do if you told a lightbulb joke...
Thanks again to Loganta Tranng of Eci, Dimuyen Sylvanesty and the Triton Guild on Povar!

*Who says Everquest isn't a "first-person shooter?" It is if you have the EQ version of the "BFG9000" - Breezeboot's Frigid Gnasher. This handy little tool, which bears a startling resemblance to a science fiction weapon, when activated, will knock the target backwards - reports have indicated anywhere from a hundred to several hundred feet!!! And to complete the joke, when identified, the item is seen to be a "Model 9000"... Must be some Quake fans in the programming department.
Thanks to Kelador Stormwolf!

Neat Stuff!
I get soooo many submissions, and frankly, many of them are just not Easter Eggs, but they are still so cool, that I'd hate to not have them be seen. So here is a collection of things that aren't QUITE Easter Eggs, or not verifiable, but close.

*While you're out wandering about, why not visit the "inside" of Karnor's Castle... In the Dreadlands, get a levitate and Spirit of Wolf, and run directly for the castle from the highest point you can find. If you're lucky (and fast), you'll find yourself "inside" the four empty walls of the castle... Just make sure that you can gate or have a party member who can port you out!
Thanks to Andy Rooney!

Updated!* On August 14, 2001, a sudden appearance of lollipops in the city of Thurgadin on many of the Coldain Dwarves [Picture] astonished a lot of people - but the lollies were gone just as suddenly. What prompted this sudden influx of the brightly-coloured confections? The world may never know....
Update! I've just been informed that this may have been related to GM Zalumbas' Anniversary on Tarew Marr. Apparently, Zalumbas liked to talk about lollipops when mingling with the masses...
Thanks to Chrisi1616 and Tephrox Veneficus

*Here's a cute one. Apparently, the 60's flashbacks hit Lake Rathe. [Picture]. Oooh - look at all the pretty colours....
Thanks Co§mic Fool!

*Just a little something for the bored... Cast levitate in Unrest, and climb to the top of the house, then run to the outer wall - just on the outside of that wall is ANOTHER wall. Make sure you have a way to gate out if you do go back here.
Thanks Keleborne of Bristlebane!

*Once upon a time, Fire Beatles roamed just outside of Freeport. Sadly, they, like their namesakes, are no more. Perhaps there will be a reunion tour?
Thanks to Drax

*More anagram fun! Drolvarg, as everyone has noticed, spells "Gravelord" backwards, without the "E". Nektulos misspells "Skeleton." Tpos Icepaw in Velketor's Labyrinth could be an anagram of "Spot". Omat Vastsea, part of the Cleric Epic quest, could be an acronym for "Old Man And The Sea" - a book by Ernest Hemingway. Remember books? It's what we used to read before Everquest...
Thanks to Bibben Nofibben of Tarew Marr, Miriamele Presbyter, Deana Feldkamp, David Tinsley, Malakie Torsade of the Test Server and Niteen Onikisu of Mithaniel Marr

*Adryan pointed out that Feerrott could be seen as "Fear Route" - meaning that it is the entrance to The Plane of Fear.
Thanks to Adryan, Rogue of Erollisi Marr!

*In North Karana, a giant wanders around by the name of Timber the Tiny. Is this a reference to Tiny Tim, the very unusual musician made famous for his ukelele and falsetto performances? I wonder if he "tiptoes through the tulips" in his sandals? Of course, there is also a "Tiny Tim" in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," but I don't think that's the reference here.

*Garrison Keillor makes his appearance in Neriak, in the form of Guard G'Noir - which is possibly a play on "Guy Noir" - a character in his famous "Prairie Home Companion."
Thanks to Tszaaz E'Taurguin

*In the back of the Lion's Mane Tavern in South Qeynos, there spawns a character by the name of Miles Gordy. Could this be a reference to two famous engineers from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine? (Geordy La Forge and Miles O'Brien). Or is it possibly a tribute to the jazz bass player Gordy Mills? Only the programmers know for sure...
Thanks to Michael Taylor and Vagen Deadshot

*One of the most startling things in Everquest is when the mobs start talking... I know I nearly jumped out of my skin the first time I heard a beggar say, "Might I have some coppers, please?" Madmen in the desert also say this. There are a few other things that speak, as well - spectres whisper "Diiiieeee", giants mutter in their own language... There's even rumoured to be some vocal traps in Velious!
Thanks to Mortanious of Brell

*I probably shouldn't even mention this one - but I'll let you draw your own conclusion. In the Neriak Caster's Guild, there is a Wizard guildmaster by the name of Litz B'Doph. Now THAT should have been caught by the name filters!
Thanks to Evan Rodwell and Kent Masterson Brown - two people with too much time on their hands

*In Neriak, there's a store called the Silk Underground. It's just possible that this is a reference to the Velvet Underground, an influential band in the sixties.
Thanks to J Branch

*In another possible jazz reference, someone pointed out that "Budo" (a Leatherfoot Raider (Halfling guard) in the Misty Thicket, is also the name of a song on Miles Davis album - "Miles & Coltrane" (CBS 1955-1958). Do we have a jazz fan at Verant?
Thanks to Khya Ebonheart, Chris Foley and Eric!

*This isn't really an easter egg - but it's such a cool picture, I couldn't think of a better place to put it. In any case, this is a picture of Kaladim, apparently in the early days, while they were still painting it...
Weeeelllll... Not really... Actually, it's what happens when you use a video card that is well below the recommended rating for Everquest."

I like the reference. The implication the gnomes are all going to freeze to death in spitting distance of success. Surely a fate worthy of gnomes even if tragic for their inspiration.

Considering this is probably my 30th iteration of a character leveling in everquest, I am having a blast quad kiting in areas I have never leveled before with my druid.
