What's the difference between Invoke Fear and Trepidation?

Invoke Fear seems to last longer and cost half the mana.

What's the deal? Fewer resists with Trepidation?

Trepidation has a -25 MR check, but otherwise is double the mana and 1 less tick duration.

Not worth using for most things.

There's a particular camp where I'm having the hardest time landing Invoke Fear, might come in handy there.

Some times you don't want mobs to run too far, so the shorter duration can be helpful.
