Food for thought:

Could the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict actually have a silver lining in that peaceful protesters can now effectively shoot any Proud Boy who shows up to physically intimidate or harm them and claim self defense?

Can the presence of having a gun on a person actually make self defense argument stronger against someone trying to physically harm said person (ie: physical confrontation could result in loss of control of the gun, therefore any physical move against a person with a firearm can be viewed as an act of self defense).

Discuss...

I saw this and it perfectly illustrates how I think people value not admitting their beliefs are wrong over having an actual informed said belief.

Its the same phenomenon you see when people formulate an opinion, and then try to find facts to support that opinion (which ultimately leads you to conspiracy theories when you cant find any "real" information to bolster said pre-existing opinion).

Wild stuff.

The overlap of the Venn Diagram between "people who supported Kyle Rittenhouse and hailed him as a hero" and "people who got mad as hell that there was a dude who got arrested outside of Kavanaugh's house"

Its like someone who decides they dont like electric cars.

Electric cars are superior to ICE cars in almost every possible way.

However, said person doesnt like electric cars for whatever reason (they dont make cool sounds for instance) so despite the evidence to the contrary, said person starts digging into the internet and finds all sorts of misinformation to bolster that pre-existing opinion, usually from nefarious sources connected to fossil fuels:

-electric cars are dirtier because they use electricity from coal (false and even if electricty were coming from coal, the tons of Co2 per mile is still much lower than gasoline).

-electric cars use more Co2 in manufacturing batteries (false)

-electric cars depend on rare minerals so its no different than oil (false, you only need those minerals for the battery, you dont depend on replenishing it for every mile you drive like oil).

The above is an example we see all too common. People form an opinion and instead of changing that opinion based on facts, they just try to find facts which reinforce that opinion, and usually this leads them to believing misinformation (the purveyors of which usually have an agenda that said person does not fully see or want to admit).

Clarence Thomas suggested in his concurring opinion that there’s no right to birth control as well. I guess he’s asking for someone to sue
