Oh no! My precious fictional universe can't have minorities! That would mean I'd have to validate their existence mentally!

I totally have serious things to worry about, that's why conservatives like me gripe about minority representation in fictional content while ignoring the real harm my existence causes!

It's changing characters to fit a modern diversity agenda that's the problem. Aragorn in the books and the movies is white. Deal with it.

Adding minority characters is OK (or might be OK depending on how they do it in the upcoming show), changing long-established characters to fit a modern diversity agenda is not.

Changing long-established characters to fit a modern diversity agenda is a long-established tradition in religion, which incidentally is also parables that have been reworked to send a moral message

White dudes being hysterical about this in their fiction is revealing about their mentality
