Default What is a good drive to run p1999 off?

I've noticed with /log turned on I get much more lag. Is this likely to be a drive issue?

What kind of drive would you guys recommend running p1999 from?

I'm trying moving my install to my computer's second drive to see how that goes. Are USB sticks fast enough these days, or might I want to buy a specific type of external drive?

Ramdisk

Edit: Is literally the fastest you can get at the moment. And yes you will load faster than people on SSD (in general)
No don't use USB,. even USB 3.0.
A large quality SSD 1+TB big is your next goto after ramdisk.

ramdisk can pull ~3,000 mb/s
SSD can pull ~500mb/s
for example (not talking about raid setups, which still won't beat ramdisk atm)

Is ram disk the opposite of virtual memory? As in ram being used as a disk instead of a disc being used as ram? Forgive my ignorance. Would this resolve my issue with /log chonking my pc?

I have the same one and without the upscale zones are around 5-6 seconds. Prior to that, my standard SSD was probably 7-8 seconds and HDD was around 10-12 seconds. Can't recommend NVME enough
