Open West TOV Raid - Saturday 7th May
Hey there,
Given the success of last week's West TOV raid we'll be putting on another one this weekend as well. This week's raid will be on Saturday 7th May. I would like everybody to be in West ToV at the zoneout by 540PM EST at the latest I will begin talking with you all, providing information, and giving instructions (i.e., shouting at you) from about 545PM EST, We will begin pulling by 600 PM EST I would like for all newcomers who are interested in coming along this week to read the section immediately below and send me a PM according to it. I'll be sending those who came last a week a PM (that is, if you've already given me your forum account name) in the next hour or so and I'd like those to whom this applies to respond to that instead. FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO ATTEND: With very few exceptions, we'll be sticking to a Level 60 Only policy. However, even if you're not Level 60 right now please feel free to go ahead and let me know about yourself anyway as you never know when there might be a shortage of one crucial class/role or another and we need a replacement in a hurry. For this week's raid our ideal numbers will be somewhere around 30. If interest exceeds this level I will be making executive decisions largely on the basis of class balance/need. The key classes that we are likely to be most in need of for this raid are Clerics and Rogues. We could also use a single Paladin, and we may also need a single enchanter and a single mage . Those interested in coming should send me a Private Message that achieves these five things: Firstly, your PM should be entitled with the in-game name of the character you are most interested in attending the raid on, as well as your level and class. FOR EXAMPLE: "Eabon: 60 Warrior"). Secondly, briefly state the extent of your experience with West ToV and/or Halls of Testing. Thirdly, briefly state how likely it is that you'll be available for this Saturday (arrive by 540PM EST) Fourthly, list the classes of all other Level 60 characters you would be willing to attend the raid on should there be a need for them (e.g., "60 Cleric, 60 Enchanter, 60 Necromancer) Fifthly, state your loot choices, including either (a) One Primary and Two Secondaries, OR (b) Three Secondaries (SEE SECTION BELOW ON LOOT SYSTEM/RULES) So, your PM should look something like this: Title: <YourCharacterName>: 60 <YourClass> (ii) No experience OR A little experience OR Lots of experience, etc., (iii) Might be available; Will definitely be available, etc., (iv) "None at all" OR 60 Cleric, 60 Enchanter, 60 Shaman, 60 Druid, etc., (v) (1): Chain Legs, (2): Plate Boots, Plate Gauntlets, etc., Loot System/Rules: We will be using a modified/elaborated "random roll" system for loot distribution. Although this system may seem a little complicated when you're first introduced to it, it carries the massive benefit of radically increasing the level of control each person has over the items that they're likely to walk away from the raid with, as well as massively increasing the likelihood that any given person is going to end up with those items that they most desire. It also solves the fundamental problem of the "one-loot-rule" wherein a person might be prevented from rolling on a Chest/Legs (or whatever their most desired piece is) that drops later in the raid because they decided to take their chances with a Wrist/Hands (or other less desired piece) that dropped earlier in the raid when they had no idea whether a Chest/Legs/etc., would actually ever drop. Our loot system can be described as a PRIORITY SYSTEM (specifically, a Two Tier Priority System), insofar as each person designates or prioritises up to three items. Firstly, each person on the raid designates one item as their primary priority ("1") - typically the item that they most want - and two items as their secondary priorities ("2") - typically the two items that they want the next most * When an item drops: (i) All those who have designated that particular item as their "1" will be permited to roll for it. If only one person has designated the item as their "1" then they are awarded it automatically by default. (ii) If nobody has designated that particular item as their "1", then all those who have designated it as "2" will be permitted to roll for it. If only one person has designated such an item as their "2" then they are awarded it automatically by default (iii) If nobody has designated that particular item at all (either as "1" or "2") then all raiders who have a Level 60 character that they could use that item on in any capacity are permitted to roll. (iv) If nobody is interested in rolling on the item for any of their Level 60 characters then I will snatch it up to be MultiQuested for later. (v) Whenever somebody wins the item they designated as "1", they will no longer be eligible for their designated "2" items unless (a) those they're competing with have also won their "1" item, or (b) nobody else has designated that item as "2" And that's it. You choose one item that you want the most (one "1"), and then two items that you want the next most (two "2"s).* When an item drops, all those who have designated that they want that item the most ("1") get to compete (roll) for it. If there isn't anybody who wants it the most ("1), then all those who have designated that they want that item the "next most" ("2") get to compete for it. If nobody has designated the item at all, then all raiders who have a Level 60 character of that armour type are free to compete (roll) for it. And if at any point you win the piece you designated you wanted the most ("1) you will no longer be able to compete for those items you designated the "next most" ("2"), except when those you're competing against have also won their "1" item. Simply put, this system allows people to prioritise those items that they feel will be the best for their character. And in so doing it massively increases the likelihood that people will end up with the pieces that they actually want the most. After all, there are certain pieces within an armour type that are incredibly good for one class while being pretty terrible for another, and this system gives people the chance to set their own personal agendas. NOTE WELL: You will be free to select any three items granted that they correspond to the armour type of at least one of your Level 60 characters. That is: (i) Unlike the previous week, you CAN mix and match from across armour types, e.g., choose one plate item, and two silk; or one chain, one leather, and one plate, etc., (ii) Like the previous week, all of your selections MUST be intended for a character of yours who is Level 60. In other words, you can't select and compete for an item for your Level 52 Shadowknight, your Level 55 Monk, your Level 59 Warrior, or your friend's/brother's/mother's Cleric/Warrior/Bard/Mage/Wizard, etc., *Those who feel that they would prefer to have three secondary priorities rather than one primary priority and two secondary priorities are free to do so. This choice removes the handicap that should you win your primary priority item you are no longer permitted to compete for your secondary priorities, whilst at the same time gives you the disadvantage of not having any items at the highest tier of priority. A Few Notes Notes in Closing

Could specifically use one more cleric, one more shaman, and a paladin, although people of any and all classes should please get in touch if interested!
We could also use another experienced monk capable of chain pulling for us, as ours will be leaving 1-2 hours before we're due to call it a night (which will be around midnight EST). | ||
