What's being asked is to make /dyn optional, not to remove classic darkness.
Classic darkness is good. "/dyn on" allows to still see, somewhat, in dark places, despite the classic darkness. Unfortunately, in many some other places (see above), the forced "/dyn on" makes the game unplayable for many people. What's being asked, is to make /dyn optional, and let people who elect to switch it off deal with the classic darkness some other way - for example, wait for the daytime. Playing during daytime only is still a lot better than being unable to play at all in many zones. | ||

I understand the devs wanting to enforce the night blindnes on non vision enhanced races, but when the fix breaks something on the other end, it's the wrong fix. Laggy raids are much more problematic than being able to see better at night when you aren't supposed to. IMO, let the races see at night, even if they aren't supposed to. I never heard anyone complain about it before. /shrug

Some time in either late 99 or early 2000 when i first started playing I created a human as my first toon. I logged in and it was night; couldn't see shit. Figured it was bugged so re-installed. After that I was done I logged back again; still couldn't see shit.
Dad needed to make a phone call so I was done for the night. Over the next few days I tried logging in a few more times over a few days; couldn't see shit and gave up for a week. I decided when I came back that being a dark elf would be cooler (I didn't know about racial night blindness) and had a blast as a dark elf warrior. In retrospect I was just super unlucky and was only trying to log in when it was night in game. A torch would have fixed my problem.
