if your paper is super important you shouldn't be using wikipedia to write it

why not? good articles list the source material at the bottom.

it blows my mind that (maybe) the greatest database of accessible information the world has ever had was created by a dude from Alabama named Jimbo

despite what anybody else says, wikipedia is actually a very good source if you're looking for a broad overview of a topic. Because the format is so standardized it's easier to shift through page after page of info. Plenty of mathematical formulas/concepts are summarized well. I wouldn't put down what wikipedia has to offer

Thanks for bumping this karsten, i thought nobody cared!

warriorman, i agree, i really do love wikipedia and use the shit out of it.

Whether I want to see where a basketball player played in college or find what Caesium is i can find it in about 5 seconds in a standardized form. Unforunately at the moment i have to have Jimmy Wales creepishly staring at me at the top of every page.
