Default Login Screen Black

I was able to log in 3 days ago without any issues. Three days later my login screen is black (between server selection and character selection). Has something server side changed?

Additional information:

Reinstalled, it fixed it.

Logged out (Camp/Quit not a crash). Problem occurs again.

The sceeen goes from full screen mode to windowed mode, then full screen again. When it returns the screen is black with a functional EQ cursor present. I can not CTRL+ALT+DEL out of it as this black screen seems to be dominant over the task manager screen.

Halp!

two things you can try.
ALT+ENTER will switch from full screen to windowed. you should be able to ALT-TAB to your task manager. assuming you open it before you start the client.
while you are camping, at about 5 seconds till you camp, you can use the /quit to close the entire client.
after you do this you will have to open the client again.

sounds like everyone is having a problem with a game resource still in use by maybe a duplicate client open. kinda like it didn't close properly.

also restarting your computer before every game session should get rid of most of the gremlins.

i had a similar problem but with wine-staging 4.13, reinstalled and switched to wine-stable fixed it.

I would probably check resolution in your ini file.

The only resolution is to delete the EQClient.ini file every time before I want to play.

If that’s true and not just a pun, I think it’s because whatever default resolution doesn’t work on your newer pc, so you could modify it to something that does work In your .ini
