Automatics outperform manuals now, both on the street and on the track.

That wasn't the case until recently so you needed a manual if you wanted performance.

It does have a manual option in the form of paddle shifting, but the stick shift transmission is a relic of the past. My current car has paddles too but I never use them.

We are actually approaching a point where gasoline-powered cars will be relics of the past. I think even the Corvette is going electric soon.

I was listening to the Dale Jr podcast the other day and they had Ned Yost on, he was a friend of Dale Sr during his heyday. He was telling a story about a hunting trip they went on and Dale brought some Swisher Sweets. Ned said Dale lit one up and a moment went by and he hear him say "ohh maaaan!". Ned asked him whats up, Dale said the smell of the cigar mixed with dirt and beer suddenly took him all the way back to when he was a kid, standing at the fence, and watching his Dad race dirt track.
