Watched all eight episodes of 1899 yesterday. It gets a C+. It's got a lot of tropes in it, but some of them are used in a moderately clever fashion.
I kept wondering, since like everyone on the boat speaks different languages and can't really talk directly to each other very well, if most of their bad television character decisions were due to simple miscommunication. | ||

Loaded the image so I could see the comic:
In the first panel, what's the dude on the top-right (wielding a knife) supposed to represent? The other three characters are all labeled. Also, note the pistol is a revolver and the rifle is styled similarly to hunting rifles with the long barrel and traditional stock: Neither of them represent the military-style automatics that usually serve as the focal point of today's arguments. I wonder if that, too, is part of the political slant of the drawing. Danth | ||
