Blue vs. Green restarting player advice

Hey there!

I just recently jumped back onto the EQ train of addiction and had a few questions about the differences between servers and their respective populations. My main issue is that I started a new champ on Green and was having a good time, got a few nice handouts from established players, but then I remembered my old login info from 10ish years ago. Unfortunately all of my old champs on that account are located on blue. So now I can't really decide which server to stick with or if it's even really a big deal considering that the two servers may be merged in the coming future... I know that green is the more "active" of the two, but I was just curious if blue still has a decent leveling and EC trading community? Also, and not to pressure the staff at all (I <3 u), but does anybody know if the old stated timeline of server merging / a new green is still a possibility for the first half of next year? As this would kind of make my issue a mute point. Thanks in advance.

Play red

Otherwise it’s 50/50

Go into east commons and your favorite starting zone and maybe a favorite leveling zone on each server and check out the vibe and see which feels better. Play there.

Servers are at the same stage of the timeline. Servers were originally promised to merge and now it’s more of a “probably” will merge situation. Chances of merge are high. Sounds like you’ve got blue assets. Start fresh on green only for the experience of starting fresh otherwise log back in and start playing like you always did.

Blue has some end of timeline quality of life improvements I don’t think they have forced fucked up lighting like green does to emulate night blindness

Blue and green are probably about the same now.

The lower level social aspect is probably more relaxed on blue.

Both servers are cutthroat. So basically you will have to pick a faction and fight other players in the end.

Blue is probably slightly less toxic.

Red is the best server if you are playing multiple characters, willing and able to solo. Like independence. Don't want to be bullied around by psychopaths abusing the GMs and project in order to feel powerful and control petty item camps.

Red sounds nice, but I'm scared of PvP in EQ...

I guess I'm mostly concerned about what the leveling / gearing up experiences are like on each. It definitely seems like blue is a little less crowded. Which has its benefits. Then again I'm not really interested in end game stuff. I'm still too far off from all of that. Nor do I have the time or patience these days.

Green is probably the easiest to level on if you're very social and economic. And go to pick up group spots and are willing to network and make friends.

Blue probably has more options for solo play.

Red is like mad max world with an exp bonus. Pretty empty. People won't usually go out their way to interact, when they do though it can be really inconvenient if your time is limited, goals aren't flexible. The end game is very unique there.

You can solo to 60 on red and might never be in the same zone as another player at the same time now days.

But on red you can do end game stuff and not have to treat it like your new job

Green has around 300-400 more people online during peak.

I am on the same fence, I missed the green launch because of work. On blue I have multiple high levels and just geared out a wizard for AFK leveling about three months before green dropped.

Finally have time to get back into the game now and its rough to consider starting over, when there is already a top heavy, albeit more visible player base with more chances to level and group

or go back to blue and enjoy the stagnation.

My big issue is no one knows the green timeline.

1. Is it going to dump back into blue? When?

If its going to be 2-3 years before the dump, I would just play on blue again.

There isn't really any these days until the very high levels, if you pick a fight. Red is simply a server with much better exp gain and not having to sit around like a diseased pig to wait for a camp.

I think 2-3 years would be on the long side for the green to blue dump considering they’re gunna be the same exact server at that point.

I wish staff would release info about how much player duplication there is. How many people play both servers at the same time.

Anyone know when the new red server is coming out?
