Default Spell File outdated

I'm using Linux. I've installed the i386 architecture... Wine version 6 and associate pieces.

I've read the old posts about the spell file being outdated. It suggests downloading the most recent patch file (as of this posting - V55). I've done that four times. I've reinstalled the Titanium disks (from ColossalGyro Google Drive) four times. I've moved the patch files to the appropriate Everquest locations. I've used the middlemand batch file and created the appropriate changes to the eqhosts file.

I get to the character selection screen and it tells me that my spell file is outdated.

What the higgledy who.

Is there anything that I am missing?
