I had Pokémon red day one on the gameboy. My older bro and I obliterated that game and when people got into the cards I had them and traded them for profit but always looked down on it. It’s a 10/10 game and deserved the worship it got. It’s just a great game, a simplified turn based RPG that’s more fun.
I used to find Pokémon Gameboy carts around my neighborhood on the sidewalk. Kids just dropped them, that craze went for like ten years because my little bro had the same experience with the later generation games. Pokémon though is actually cool, power rangers is targeted to like a 5 year old it’s a very narrow window. Watching it as an adult is cool cuz the bad guys always get kicked right in the nads and then some affirmation like “if we stick together we can always stop Bully’s!” Is said before the show ends. The main bad guy is a woman reeda repulsa is a perfect combo of terrifying and yet attractive that also was a hard to resist combo for a kid. | ||

Remember, neither Voltron nor Power Rangers were purely Japanese shows. Voltron was like Robotech: it was made out of (highly) edited and dubbed footage from an anime (primarily Beast King Go-Lion, but later Armored Fleet Dairugger XV). Power Rangers was even more American, as it not only dubbed and edited the heck out of Super Sentai footage, but it also added American footage. In short, both shows stole a ton from Japan, but both were American originals also ... but the latter show was very much a rip-off of both the hybrid Japanese-American model, and Tokusatsu content, of the former show.
