I always thought this system should have been implemented to let people spawn as the pain in the ass rares (raster, pyzjn, etc.) which would inevitably decrease the spawn time of the mob, while increasing the difficulty of fighting it. (ideally)

But then friends could log in and help other friends camp the mobs dropping good loot.

true, but.. given the wide variety of npcs and such, and the fact that you couldn't choose what you spawned as.. it 'could' have been exploited, but it'd still have been an interesting idea while it lasted.

(I just like the idea of spawning as raster on top of a monk that's been in the camp for 48+ hours straight)
