Mages in Velious

It's been so long...is there any mage specific item/quests i should be excited for in velious? or any spells?

I just read about monster summoning on the wiki and don't really remember it from live - what is the advantage to having a local creature to aid you? Do they get special powers??

Its just an illusion I believe. Like if you used it in oasis, you would summon a pet with the illusion of Cazel

So is the monster a "type" of pet that has an illusion suited to the zone you're in?

Necro clicky nuke. Mage clicky nuke. Wizard clicky nuke. Chanter clicky stun with a 15-second cast [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Err, I guess there's two chanter clickies with stuns. The wand isn't that bad I guess. But yeah, it is. You can cast the spell it does and catch a med tick and only lose 10 mana, or you can click the 8-second wand and miss a med tick to lose 20 mana.
