i was gonna make some comment about how they should get real jobs and stop scamming good zek-loving ogres out of their hard-earned lightstones, but then i got to thinking... who are these gypsies? and what are they doing, exactly?

----

what do you think they do with the lightstones, anyway? why do they need so many of them?
Of the 5 quests that require a light stone; 2 of them are for light related reasons (boat beacon and a guy trapped in the dark), 1 of them is for proof of combat ability and 2 are for the research books. Given the proximity of an enchanter NPC to one and that the other is a smith then I'd say they are probably working together/competing to create various enchanted arms and armor that provide a light source. The only NPCs we know for sure that are capable of creating light producing armor though are the ones in the temple of ro and they do so in a way that doesn't directly require light stones to create. The various quest objects they require may have been created with light producing properties though originally. Like how the Incandescent Gloves require Glowing Gloves. So perhaps the Ro NPCs don't have the ability to craft those kinds of items due to lack of knowledge and have to rely on a kind of reverse engineering, while the gypsies are able to because they know the required spells/materials and keep it secret.
