Triiz, take a second here to admire the beauty of America's health care system. Like all systems of control, it has been carefully designed so that the serfs are placed in a local maximum where we lose if we fail to comply, but also in a global minimum where there is huge net transfer of wealth to the pharmaceutical companies (Obamacare was basically written by the health care industry). Also, the cancer survival rate was one thing I googled around for a bit. This blog post is an easy to read table representation of one of those 'sciency' papers. I'd guess that Britain is doing a bit better (or the US is doing worse) in the 2010s. Anyway, as I stated I am not defending our health care system. I just think that a true free market solution would blow socialized medicine out of the water. No one would be without health care, as the market would meet all price points (except people unwilling to work, of course, and I am not overly concerned there).

Why do courts keep facilitating these monopolies, not to mention the FTC, when both are controlled by Republicans? I’d argue Democrats are closer to wanting free markets at this point. Not that I support them. Immigration is the only issue that matters, but I don’t see why libertarians like yourself are so OK with monopolies that stifle competition

There's no moral argument for being 'for' illegal immigration, just a fools argument that doesn't understand logistics and practicality.

Morality and money though. I struggled with this when taking a position on Amazon in NY. By what logic is Jeff Bezos owed tax breaks and not the little guy trying to start a humble business? I've had a hard time taking a position on this one because in a practical sense it's great for tax payers and home owners and people looking for good jobs in the area. In another sense I can't reconcile while rich AF Jeff Bezos is owed a tax break and no business people that are struggling.

Immigration has destroyed the bottom end of the entire construction industry in the same way automation did to manufacturing. When people distill the argument down to “Mexicans only clean houses and pick vegetables” you lose a lot of the nuance and therefore ignore the complains of the vast majority of people who’s lives are negatively affected by that.

Roofers, deck builders, landscapers and other semi-skilled but non red-seal trades commonly make $20/hour in countries that have tight controls on their immigration. That has a huge effect on the overall economy
