Hi, i'm returning to EQ after who knows how many years. Should i start on Green or Blue? I know there is talk about merging the two, so i guess it doesn't really matter. Just wanted to get some opinions.

Merger is likely but not a definite.

I'd still roll on green since there'll be a bit more even level spread still I'd think.

If you plan to play intensively there are advantages to going on Blue as some high level iitems are still considerably cheaper on there with only the rarest of items being more expensive.

Both servers are about equal although green is a little busier at the low end with more free wheeling people.

If you're highly social there's a lot of cool OGs on blue who would befriend you aswell. You can play on both servers simultaneously though, and almost every blue player has a green alt. Or vice versa.

I just started on green a month ago after having played blue for years. I would say go green, unless you want free or cheap items. I like green because you still see alot of poor people and newer people compared to top heavy blue server.

The lower level grouping scene is basically the same on both servers. They are both very too heavy and are almost at the same point in progression. Blues economy is overall better and more active I’ve found, but as far as lower level leveling experience it’s basically the same so can’t go wrong either way

blue is a cesspool. hopefully the servers dont merge.
population problem fix is not letting blue have quakes since they cant play nice together. let the same 10 people petition eachother in eternity every weekend while green has fun with regular quakes.

Supposedly sometime after Jan 2023, Green merges into Blue, and then they will start a new Server like they did with Green, unless they change and don`t do the merge.

Still there`s no reason to not start now, although the low lvl group scene seems scarce, unlike even a year ago, even 50 + groups are not as easy to find, as they were in April/may 2021.

There are so major differences between the servers like tab targeting and pet windows don't exist on green and the UI is locked to Velious and very limited.

Green is effectively blue now except with a couple hundred more people and your platinum doesn't go nearly as far on some stuff as the cheaper prices on blue. And yeah at least blue has a more robust UI.

If you want a thriving pick up group xp scene you aren't getting it on either server anymore so I hope you like soloing forever on a caster until you can join a raid guild because that's how top heavy and divested of true newbies P99 has become since green hit Velious.
