Default Best weapons for Warrior lvls 30+

Hello all. I'm trying to figure out what upgrades I should be saving for. I've been farming hardcore after coming back to EQ after 12 or 13 year retirement. Farmed 400+ DF belts, 50+ stacks of spider silk, bone chips, hq bear pelts, and 24 left goblin ears. Started on p99 3 weeks ago, so pretty stoked on how far I've come with some serious grinding lol. Very humbling coming from my old raiding guild 12 years ago on live haha.

30 Barbarian Warrior

I currently have Dual Lamentations and Silver Chitin Handwraps

Recommendations so far are
https://wiki.project1999.com/Frostbringer
https://wiki.project1999.com/Wrapped..._Serpent_Spine
https://wiki.project1999.com/Venomou...e_Velium_Brood
https://wiki.project1999.com/Wurmslayer

The Frostbringer seems pretty cheap for the 12/22 compared to WESS at 11/23 for double the price. Is there a reason? or is it just rarity? Is the WESS much more aggroe or does the proc do more damage to justify? Frostbringer seems like the obvious choice, but I am rusty and nooby right now so any advice is great. I think if I sell all my current loot and one of my lamentations I might be only like 500 plat away from affording Frostbringer.

Any other items I Should look at?

If I get frostbringer which hand do I hold it in with my other lamentation?

Any other insights about my lamentations? etc etc. Any advice at all is appreciated!

Also if anyone has any of these items for sale and can let me know price and I'll try and farm ears hardcore to save up [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks everyone!

I hear Frostbringer is pretty awesome once it starts proccing (40).

WESS is also pretty awesome but can get weird if you're not careful as the blind can fear the mob sometimes.

I always wanted a warrior with two axes, so I'd use Frostbringer and Venomous Axe for the cool look alone

People also sell the loot rights to this for 10k

WESS is more aggro (also prob alot less of them floating around than frostbringer due to where they come from).

Frostbringer imo is a better all around weapon choice b/c its also nice dps(when you dont proc this may help you maintain aggro anyway) and the proc aggro is generally good enough. I think this weapon is about best bang for buck for a warrior with good dps and aggro.

Wurmslayer is just a dps weapon. unless you have spare money laying around I wouldn't worry about that. Eventually as a warrior you probably want to have a dps weapon setup and an aggro weapon setup for instances where someone else is going to tank vs when you are tanking. If you want that flexibility now I would just go with a cheap option like staff of battle for dps.

Awesome thanks for the input you two. So if I did go with Frostbringer do I hold it in main hand or offhand with one of my lamentations and why?

Yeah WESS is ultimate proc weapon but can get dangerous if you aren't in a mobs grill. And definitely don't face pull with WESS. It'll blind the mob and he'll go say hello to everybody in the zone.

Problem with some weapons is they don't proc till 40's and 50's. WESS does proc at level 1 but it really isn't worth the risk at that level.. That's a whole lot of hate...

I have a 56 warrior who uses FB in main hand, WESS in offhand.. And i keep a plethora of weapons on hand with random procs cause WESS isn't always worth the headache.

Sarnak Warhammer
Bloodpoint
Scorpikis Claw Impaler might be a consideration for you. Borderline free, and has a proc at level 30. And it's poison, which is great!
https://wiki.project1999.com/Scorpikis_Claw_Impaler
Wakizashi of Frozen Skies

Problem with Wakizashi and other DD procs like the venemous axe is they really don't cause much agro.. You're better off with a weapon that has better base stats.. Which is why many weapons with procs at low levels aren't so great.. But there are a few hidden gems out there!

Wurmslayer is more of a solo or XP group dps weapon though. For higher level mobs (valuable item farm or raid) with better mitigation you'll want something faster to ensure you can apply your unmitigatable damage bonus as often as possible when in a dps role.

Get a mate on giant faction to loot some rotting dragon head to get you your free frostbringer.

Wow Jimjam I just looked up the frostbringer quest, the cloak of maelstrom is amazing too. Why would anyone let the heads rot? What lvl do I need to be to farm those myself since I don't really have any friends on P99 that I am close enough to that I'd feel comfortable asking that favor of lol.

Sorry i totally forgot about the lvl 40 requirement on frostbringer proc.

Until then id go with cheap but very good aggro items like scorpikis claw impaler and maybe a kunzar ku'juch. Use these if you are in a group where you really need to be pulling aggro from high dps players, but would probably just be using your better dps weapons most of the time until you can use frostbringer. 2x lamenation or jade mace is solid imo. You could get a wurmslayer from 30-40 it is probably a better MH weapon than jace mace or lammy.

Main hand dps is a balance between speed (allowing you to take full advantage of dmg bonus on primary weapon) and good ratio. Wurmslayer is an interesting one b/c its very slow but has a very good ratio. As you get higher level and the dmg bonus becomes more important it will get worse.

To dragon heads. I farm dragons in large part for heads b/c their rewards are nice items worth 1-2.5k and I think most people farming them are in the same boat. I have seen groups doing pillar dragons let them rot occasionally b/c no one has giant faction. IMO getting a rotting head is a long shot and getting giant faction is annoying b/c chances are you will prefer to be on CoV/coldain factions at higher levels. soloing the dragons even at lvl 60 with perfect gear is impossible as a warrior. Mostly these are killed by 60 shamans or groups doing the pillar dragons for necklaces.

Or what if I try to orchestrate by sitting in the zone where they rot, and having a friend on standby who has ally giant who can come loot for me and I pay him for the run or something? Any trick here I can use to obtain the Frostbringer?

I'll be 40 in 1-2 weeks I think. I don't mind the lvl 40 requirement for proc. I'm getting like 2 lvls a day right now on average. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] GRINDMODE
