The truth is, both Left and Right (in the US) are Liberals. 'Conservative' is short for 'Conservative Liberal'.

Free speech, gun rights, religious freedoms, economic freedoms, etc are all Liberal.

That's literally what their proper name is.

But they are how you describe them. They're conservative about liberalism.

There is economic liberalism (free market capitalism) and political liberalism (really just degrees of progressive). They are not the same.
