Default Blam Stick Ranger?

Does anyone have one on their ranger and how does it pair with the Swiftwind?

I recently got my Swifty and a Crafted Velium Warsword which works nice at lvl 58. It’s certainly good for higher AC mobs. I was thinking of getting a Wurmslayer for DS mobs and realized the Blam was a possibility. Running the MH ratio (2x damage + damage bonus (11) / delay) it’s between the Crafted and a SoZ:

Crafted V. 10/18 = 31/18 = 1.72
Blam Stick 30/40 = 71/40 = 1.775
Swiftblade of Zek 11/18 = 33/18 = 1.83

Unhasted the Blam is slow enough mixing in Call of Flame or later Calefaction might actually make sense. You are likely losing a couple offhand swings but the blam is pretty slow. Slow enough to justify essentially a triple (fire) attack.

Thoughts? Besides of course save for a SoZ and the spell slots.

How are you losing “offhand” swings?

I think he means by casting spells. He can get a spell in before Blam Stick needs to swing, but will 'lose' an offhand swing in that time while casting.

Exactly due to the 21 delay offhand and swinging independent of the MH.

100% - spend that money elsewhere.

my understanding is that blam stick is better for non velious targets because the AC is so much higher on velious mobs and a lot of the higher damage is mitigated by them, where a faster weapon with more damage bonus stacking up per swing would accrue more dps over time.

Yea I was thinking in most grind situations, especially with spare mana to dump using Call of Flame, there is an argument for the Blam. Even snaring takes a bit of time so you would lose less dps with a slower weapon. I'd definitely keep the fast weapon in my bag for higher AC and/or raid targets.

Thanks all for the input. Might try to figure out a way to get a Blam just to be weird.

I would like one on my Ranger too. Seems like a lot of fun. I bet it's great for smashing skeletons
