Default Crashes on login and zoning ~50% of the time

This began with v49 and is still a problem with v49b. After about 20+ logins and 30+ zones as a sample size, I'd estimate around 50% of the time the client crashes.

During login: It happens after getting to the character select screen and selecting a toon. The client freezes for ~3 mins and boots me back to login screen.

During zone: Client freezes and requires killing with task manager. When zoning *does* succeed, the zone times are normal.

I've enabled "run as administrator" on eqgame.exe and it's running in XP SP 3 compatibility mode (same issue with or without these set). No antivirus running and Windows Defender disabled. Never had any sort of problems prior to v49 patch.

Any thoughts? It's quite frustrating, and as a Druid and I can't port guildmates around because it takes me about 15 mins to complete one port. Thanks =)

Do you get the blue loading screen bar? Or just the "LOADING, PLEASE WAIT" in red and not see anything else?

I have had issues previously on a wireless connection but found that when I tested an ethernet/wired connection it stopped happening.

Not a fix, but something to consider trying <3

OP here; the problem on my end turned out to be local. I hard-reset everything in my infrastructure (modem, router, switch, wireless extender) and it resolved the random zone crashing right away. Give that a shot for all the networking devices on your network.

I don't know if it has anything to do with your latency. What is your latency in game? Press f11
