Reasearch Cheat Sheet

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to stop by and give everyone the new toy I just created. It takes a little work on your part, but it will make your life a whole lot easier. This tool is meant to tell you exactly what you can and cannot research using words in your inventory and bank. It will also allow you to know what you need to get in order to research spells that you are looking for. Follow the instructions below to get it working:

1) Use the command "/outputfile inventory" within the game. This will spit out a text file in your base EQ directory called "character name - inventory.txt"
ex. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
The easiest way to find this image would be to search for you character name in the base folder.

2) Open the text file, hit "CTRL-A" and then copy the entire document.

3) Open the Research Cheat Sheet (I suggest that you make a copy of this file to your own computer. This will make it so you can update it as needed.)

4) Go to the first worksheet in the file (It will be named "Inventory Dump")

5) Paste the raw data from the text file we created earlier. This will create 5 separate columns with data in all of them.

6) Move over to the second tab on the file, "Pivot".

7) Right click on the actual table shown, and click "Refresh".

8) Profit!!!!

If you go to the "Necromancer" sheet, it will show you all of the re-searchable spells for Necros, as well as the reagents, how many of each you have, and if you have enough to do an attempt at the combine, as well as how many combines you can make.

I plan on adding the other caster classes ASAP.

As a note: It seems as though it will not work properly if you are attempting to load the file with Google Sheets, as it is not able to properly refresh or update any pivot table information. For now stick to using excel or other similar stand alone software. Please let me know if you run into any bugs.

This looks awesome! I've been levelling up the druid but my necro has a ton of words in the bank so I'll definately give it a try.

Worked like a charm! Ty so much for putting this together! I used it to discover that all the words that were filling up 90% of my bank were worthless, which was disappointing, but it was VERY nice to clear out my dang bank!

This is crazy cool idea.

The enchanter page is a bit borked however.

Annoyingly, the inventory dump loses the Right, Left, and Faded level of information, and the Right and Left info is key to knowing whether you have enough to try a combine. So I don't know how you might fix that.

I don't have any other page flavors in inventory to test unfortunately. But looking at the list, I'd say this same issue is going to affect the Tas Grim pages too. You might be ok with Veli and NG pages, since their numbers are different and don't need the Right/Left distinction. You'll still need to at least fix the search targets to match though.

Still, an awesome tool, great effort, thank you for doing this.

HMMMMMMMM, I am wondering if there is a workaround for this, might need theirs to based on item ID. Ill look into it.

Might just change the chanter YES/NO column to include MAYBE and let people deal with it.

I have one setup just like this, but I was not aware of the inventory file that you can create, so I had been moving them around and organizing them one by one and making a list outside of the game.

That command saves me sooooo much time, thank you for this, haha!
