Yes, there is such a thing as a "transient ischemic attack" (TIA) which doesn't cause permanent disability... but if he had a true stroke and they are not yet certain whether or not it affected the long-term use of his limbs, then there is no way they can say he hasn't suffered brain damage. Also, if he's on a ventilator (especially after 11 days!) then it's definitely not a TIA. They usually only last a few minutes.

As an aside, although a stroke is possible at any age, for someone his age I'd be highly suspicious of cocaine being a culprit.

I'm sad to see anyone die...but I hope the cause of his death is actually discussed and the right people learn from it.
