I’ve ran into a few drop transfers and picked up their stuff as a joke and ran away but gave their stuff back. Of course it was in a main hallway and on a majorly trafficked path both times lol

Still curious where this occurred so we can judge OP accordingly

This one time in plane of sky I watched someone drop an AoN on the ground.

Takes a strong disposition to just "watch" that.

Whether it was the right move or not some of these responses aren't as edgy as you all think. Consider therapy

Ya outside of an act of god like the server randomly crashing in that 10 second time window, drop transfers are perfectly safe if you are smart about it.

That sucks man, sorry that happened to you. I’ve been on the server for 7 years and never had any problems with anyone when helping with transfers.

Can GMs even track drop transfers if you were to submit a petition?

Or any player at all. If they agree to your transfer and steal the item they get banned and you get it back
This is false, unless it changed in the last 6 years or so - about 6 to 7 years back I had transferred a Fungi tunic via a random 54 (guilded) ogre shadowknight at paineel/hole entrance (my alt was out there, as was my main).

The GMs informed me that they could ban him, but I would not be reimbursed, and if he was banned, I would lose any small chance I had of getting it back via negotiation with the player.

Unfortunately, I was a bit stupid and tried to coerce him to trade it back (including bringing my drama to the auction logger site), nearly resulting in a ban of my own for such actions.

However, the positivity on p99 I think outweighs the negativity/aforementioned outliers, and when all was said and done, an amazing person on the server actually gifted me a tunic, and the thief's guild disbanded them.
