Default Bash vs Slam

Hey folks, I'm playing a low level warrior and recently picked up a shield of the Slain Unicorn, which gives me shield armor and an off hand piercing attack but no bash. I like bashing spellcasters to interrupt their casting. My warrior is a barbarian so slam attacks are an option. How does slam compare to bash for interrupting? Does the increased damage of a shield bash also increase the chance to interrupt a caster as compared to a slam attack?

Bash and Slam are functionally the same skill. Bash requires a shield equipped and checks if shield is magic to hit magic only targets while slam has no equipment requirement and checks if shoulder armor is magic for magic only targets.

Shield of the Slain Unicorn will not allow bashing as although it looks like a shield it is in fact typed by the game “classically” as a piercing weapon that just happens to add 9 base Ac.

Kick gains the same stun chance and duration as bash/slam by level 55 but the skill caps lower pre and post level 50 so for most reliable hit rate and marginally better damage bash is the better choice.

Medium & Small race warriors (or sks & paladins)can hot key your weapon slots and a bag to swap in and out a shield and weapons as needed. Although tedious as hell at least it’s no where close to the constant clicking bards do with instrument swapping.
