On the Origins of Iksar..
Iksar: Love-children of Trolls and Lizardmen?
The Iksar, a seemingly reptilian race hailing from the recently re-discovered continent of Kunark. Where did they come from? What are their true origins? A new theory is making the rounds in academia these days, and we here at Antonican Action News have dug deep to bring you this exciting breaking story! It all started in Erudin, where researchers at the high men's famed library began putting together the puzzle pieces, as revealed by this startling interview. Interviewer: "So, tell our readers a little about your new discovery." Tomekeeper Danl: "Well, as you no doubt know, the Iksar presented something of a conundrum to the scientific community upon their discovery. Clearly reptilian, yet possessing bipedal traits and a near human level of intelligence." Interviewer: "Don't the Iksar have records about their own origins?" Danl: "Yes, they have their myths.. plenty of them, in fact. The dubious nature of these stories only lend credence to the idea that the Iksar are hiding something big about themselves. Heirs to the Shissar, indeed!" At this statement, the tomekeeper gives a most impressive and skeptical harrumph. Our readers might be reminded of the rather outlandish claims being reported by our adventurous explorers as they map out the new continent. A once mighty empire.. of lizard men? It doesn't take a genius to see that such a thing seems very unlikely. Danl: "A far more probable origin for the "species" presents itself when one looks at the facts of their peculiar biology. Clearly, like the lizard men in the southern portion of our own continent, they are of reptilian stock. Yet they also share traits with hominids, not entirely unlike ourselves.. though of a far baser nature and degree, of course. Add to this their rapid recovery from wounds, and (from all available reports) the rather pernicious and persistent odor that follows wherever they go, well.." Danl: "Finally, what race shares the swampy jungle homeland of the lizard men? Trolls, of course.. who are also rather infamous for their own horrible, musky stench and regenerative abilities. Trolls, a race which has morals (if one can even call the primitive thought processes that they posses as such) lax enough that many individuals might consider such a presumably forceful union of disparate species a trifling amusement, rather than a horrible abomination against the natural order." The facts add up, dear readers! And even other institutions (such as the prestigious Academy of Arcane Science here in our lovely Freeport) agree with the Erudites' interpretation of them. Opal Darkbriar: "Trolls and Lizardmen? Yes, I could see that happening. Goodness knows both races are disgusting enough.. just like the Iksar themselves. We had a live Kunark specimen captured for research purposes a few weeks ago, but ended up having to dispose of it almost immediately.. the filthy thing stank up a whole wing of the Academy!" Our man on the street interviews about the topic just confirmed what we already knew, too. Boomba the Big: "Trolls? Yuh, dey's pretty gross and stupid, not like smart Ogres. Boomba visit Troll city once, big mistake. Trolls keep Frogloks prisoner. Gud idea, Ogres like eat Frogloks too.. but Trolls not just eat Frogloks. No, Trolls play with they food. Boomba sees many tings he wishes he could forget in Troll city. Ogre swill helps. Trolls do same kinda tings with lizards? Probably, Boomba tinks. Trolls icky. You go away now." And there you have it, dear readers! Iksar, the love-children of Trolls and Lizardmen! What kind of continent is Kunark, to have produced such horrors? Does the lost continent have any other terrible tales such as this? Tomekeeper Danl: "Well, "lost" is a bit of a stretch, really. Kunark was "lost" the in the same way that a sack of rotten turnips is "lost". You toss it out back on the midden heap and stop thinking about it.. and don't even get me started on origins of the Sarnaks!"

They added froglok DNA to the lizards because they were lazy, in a hurry, and didn't have the complete genome.
The froglok DNA created the iksar.

What would a Whale biologist know of such things!
Also, best idea, ever. Also also, are we saying the Iksar were on the receiving end of the ultimate troll?

The Iksar are an ancient race, I'm sure lowly frogloks (especially LoY era ones) aren't worthy of having any association with them.
