Miscellaneous: fashion quest (?) breastplate of Eradication

Yo! I recently came across an old thread related to the appearance of the Vindi and Statue BPs. But I'm a little unclear on the conclusion drawn here that the Eradication BP should use the old plate texture rather than the newer Velious texture.

Numerous pictures were posted in the thread with claims of being the Eradi BP and demonstrating a velious graphic, but these screenshots lack any real direct evidence that they are the BP in question, and many (if not all) are from post-Velious.

The clearest example of the BP being awarded and equipped seems to be "Prybutok Browneyes" from January 1st, 2002. Later on April 5th when he receives a primal the screenshot below was taken.

I've read that Velious textures were disabled by default and that might account for the appearance of the BP here (as well as the rest of his armor, if it is the Kael warlord armor). The standout element here being the velious helmet. I haven't yet determined whether having these textures disabled would also disable the appearance of custom helmets.

Because the Velious textures can be a strain on some systems, the textures for these new armors will not be loaded by default by the game. If you want to see the new textures you will have to edit your EQClient.ini and change the line LoadArmor23=FALSE (the default) to LoadArmor23=TRUE.

Is there any way to test this here? I noticed that in my eqclient.ini file, LoadArmor23 is set to false despite the fact that velious textures are enabled.

I realize I might be posting this a little prematurely as I'm still trying to find good evidence one way or another. But I figured I'd post and see if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction. I haven't had much luck finding a clear example of the BP awarded and screenshotted prior to Luclin.

The only in-era "evidence" I see is the one-time poster on Zam claiming that the Eradi BP "looks like Umbral."

Its appearance is listed on Lucy as "Velious Plate 2," but if it was changed to this at a later date, I haven't been able to find evidence of that either. I'll keep looking.

Hello,

I noticed with the last patch, the Boots of the Vindicator were changed. They were previously a silver, original non-velious texture, pretty much looking like fine plate. Now, they seem to be a dull gold/brown color. Any chance we could get these changed back? One of the reasons that I wanted these boots was for the plain look they had along with great stats. I miss my old boots!

We changed the look of a few items with the last patch. While your preference obviously would be that this particular item remain as it was, we thought it better that it look a little more unique. A few other items were cosmetically changed as well.

In the long run, we understand that it's just as likely that people will prefer the old graphic as it is that they will like the new one. I think the old saying goes something like this: I don't know art, but I know what I like. We have to go with our instincts on this sort of thing.

If there was a change, it was probably in the patch they are referencing. Apparently vindi boots changed, but I never tried much to find a screenshot of the color. Possible they changed it back or people used luclin models and didn't care.

Your evidence for it being classic textured, is a picture of an Agony warrior wearing Warlords (Agony was a kael factioned guild on vaz), and all of the Warlords (velious armour) is in classic textures, as he has velious textures turned off?

Derakor the Vindicator aka DtV . Today is a challenge with 38 people. Compared to last time, there are two more Clerics, and less Attackers. Well, contrary to my expectations, I was able to do it with the first charge. ・Chestplate of Vindication ・Head of the Vindicator is out, Common Drop BP. That's what it's for.








It looks like a black PoG Plate, a blacker version of the
" Phase Spider Carapace ".

It was just barely.
When DtV 's Life is 5% remaining, it's almost destroyed (laughs) In the
DtV battle, everyone is bound at a nearby Safe Point, so they
charge naked as it is, and while the meat wall buys time,
Nuke. I hit it and managed to beat it.
Even though it's a meat wall, it's about 1 second per person (laughs)

What can I say? ... we took down Darakor the Vindicator on our FIRST try, with only 40 people - Omani Style. Thanks to the people that showed up. Tactics > anything. See some pics here, here, here, here and here LOL

Grats Bloodshard on the BP and Naluvien on the Head (for druid gloves).

Ohh ... I forgot ... we also took Lord Bob right after that.

Pretty definitive, and the 9/16 kill lines up with the 9/12 developer reply i referenced earlier in the thread saying "some other items received cosmetic upgrades"

I believe there is enough evidence that Chestplate of Vindication, Breastplate of Eradication, and Boots of the Vindicator had appearance changes in Sept 2001.

What specifically the material was, however, I am not sure.

Velious armor material types are designated by using material types 17-23. (from right to left in the following image.)

Example case: Troll Warrior. Changing Breastplate of Eradication to material 22 results in the bottom left (plate).

However, reviewing this image:

Breastplate of Eradication would be using material 19 (Scale). Is the Troll instead wearing the Chestplate of Vindication?

There are similar inconsistencies with the Dark Elf chest material.

How should this work?

The way I am reading is would be Chestplate of Vindication would be material 19, and Breastplate of Eradication 22.
