Default Tips for a brand new Necro?

I decided to roll a necro, either Gnome or Human. I know gnomes have higher int starting, but humans have more hp/overall stats and I kinda know their starting area. I don't think I've ever been around Gnome starting area.

Can someone explain the hate aspect that necros get? Like, what cities are off-limits the entire game? I know you can do quests or turn ins to increase faction at certain places. Also, how hard is it to deal 50% dmg to a mob so you get full exp?

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Human necros are the least hated across the board, with gnomes and erudites pretty close as well. Always /consider things

50% isn't too tough on necro from mid levels on

Past 12, it’s dot dot fear, send in pet at 50%, med. full exp. 8- 12 I just killed skeletons mostly and used ward undead and got full exp most of the time.

I’ve never played a gnfome before and Looking. Through walls is pretty fun.

Tip for a brand new necro? Roll up an alt now and start collecting necro items for your Iksar necro when Kunark is released.

C'mon man that's not the advice people are looking for. Kunark is 11 months away.

How do you know what advice people are looking for? I'm actually following that exact advice myself. I really wanted to make a necro but decided I just can't bring myself to create an inferior necro which is what the options are now.

I know some may say play what you want and that is fine if aesthetics, role playing or something else is more important to you but I don't think it's in dispute that Iksar necro > all other necros with their OP racial regen.

It's also not a trivial matter to level a character to max level so the real question is are you good with spending that much time to level a character knowing that it will always be lacking when compared to an Iksar? If the answer is yes then by all means knock yourself out. I would love to create a gnome necro but not so much that I want to give up on Iksar regen.

Let me put it another way for your consideration. When Kunark expansion releases are you going to be excited to play with the new content that comes out? Are you going to want to partake in the new Iksar classes that will be available and play in the Kunark zones? If the answer is yes are you going to be disappointed that necro isn't an option really because you already leveled another necro? I don't know that I will play continuously until Kunark releases but even if I don't I may start playing again when it does and I will be happy to have the option of Iksar necro as a character choice.

Sorry you don't like my advice but that doesn't mean it's not valid! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Your advice is fine when Kunark is out or close to being out. Right now? Not so much.

I have to agree. Holding off on making a necro for 11 months when you want to play one now...I mean if power gaming is that important to you go for it I guess. There’s too much of it on this server imo though, just my 2C.
