Time. I recommend a new era label. Starting now.
We had B.C. and A.D., and respectably for the Chinese and jew we implemented B.C.E. before common era, and C.E., common era.
Now, I believe it's time for: B.G. and G.E. Before Google, and Google era. We are now currently in year 0 G.E.

yeah, unfortunately, this "reality" seems to be akin to "Once upon a time" where we are all essentially reincarnations of the past, living out the same stories, in a contemporary "modern" landscape, with modified names that mean the same thing as the names we had in ancient history.
Very cyclical stuff.056_the nobody_result_result.jpg

I don't think you're wrong. It's immediate mass communication that rly fundamentally changes/redefines things I think, not to mention all the physical benefits derived from computer equipped machines. I would put the switchover squarely at 2000, both because it's pretty spooky and pretty accurate.
Society is as messily organized as any biological organism. A lot of features and alterations stacked up and up with increasing stability. The industrial revolution was big enough, printing press too, but I think the redefinition of communication to be instantaneous and worldwide and to require the consumption of virtually no resources is the real deal. The last 4 years prove it kinda broke our existing social matrix. Magical thinking is now everywhere you look, people are going nuts. The only thing bigger ever coming is to have the internet interfacing with ur brain directly. And a nanobot swarm surrounding you that allows you to walk freely on Neptune, conjuring a neoclassical mansion around you as you stroll. This is pretty much the very finalest phase of the "old world" we are living through, where labor is still of humans and big clunky machines with arms that have to piece big chunks together to build machines, but communication is now a sublimated matter. It's bigger than Jesus
