The way I look at it is, if you're not affected by your "bogeymen" in your personal life it's probably best not to sperg out about it.
If I ran outside right now and screamed "Antifa is out of control!!" someone would respond "Who??" Media focuses on small conflicts because it gets clicks. For the Right, it's Antifa. For the Left, it's White Supremacists. It's fun to shit post, but both of these factions are small and do not pose a threat. Most, if not all, Leftists I know are decent. Most, if not all, Right wingers I know are decent. I occasionally surround myself in an echo chamber but I try not to lose sight of that fact.

Most people I know IRL don't really say "I'm a leftist or a right winger".
A few say #MAGA and are like OMG TRUMP IS GOD. But that's them lol.... and probably because they are liek just glad Obama isn't president again, and where I live, they asexually identify that way. But we all have our major and minor political beefs and we shouldn't totally dismiss them either because of some crazy dumbdumbs. I feel like that happens a lot and legitimate issues get drowned out in the sea of dumb. It's really hard to be like hey, yeah, that Alex Azar guy is bad news for opiate shortages and morphine problems. #NYTIMESFAKENEWS
