Building a guild bank is more difficult without Kunark or Velious. Dragons drop stuff that people want, and funding recharges is a big deal and takes investment and planning. I can see dues being a thing until Kunark comes. Why is this significant again?

Only if you allow DKP for RL cash. That's the true level playing field for an MMO.

Yup, running a guild is expensive. Peridot for cleric, stones for ports, clickies. Shit ain't free and there is only so many cash farms.
