back with new comp, no characters

Hello, i havent played for a couple months. got a new comp loaded 99 and all my char slots are empty. Do the characters get deleted after a certain period of time? is there a way to recover? I tried creating a new character with one of the same names and it states name is unavailable. any help is appreciated. thank you!
