Personally, I had no issue. But, I've had to set up EQ & P99 a couple of times for technophobic friends of mine. So my vote goes to "needed assistance"
.

automatic patches classic!

No issues for myself, but an automated patch is a great idea.

An automated patch/setup would really REALLY boost numbers here imo.

The responses you're going to get from this thread are probably pretty heavily biased in the favor of the "did not have problems" camp.

Largely because you probably lose a large number of players who would benefit from this assistance before they establish themselves on the forums.

Didn't have any problems that 5 minutes on the forums didn't solve.

Did you have issues understanding the Getting Started thread? Did you require technical assistance, or were you able to figure it out yourself?

I'm interested to know how many players would benefit from an automated patch process.
An automated patch process would have helped even 25% of EMU players, according to the poll. That's a very significant number. Imagine that extrapolated to the general community of gamers and it's certainly a lot higher. It's a complete given that an automated patch process would increase the population and ease of play for a majority of gamers.

It was pretty straight forward.

I do have a question and this might be the wrong place to ask but I see the new model for Mage pets. How can I go back to seeing the ugly old floating block models.

Thank you

Fixing or updating to a new EMU type launcher would help for newbies.

Voted that I needed the forum only because I needed it for installing on my MacBook. PC installs are easy peasy.
